@stateq2 Derp. "Most black people" Is such a fucking unnecesary term. There are as many who made that kind of music now as there was then, but the media is not focusing on it :P
PUTAIN CE QUE C'EST BON ! CHRIS DOWD & ANGELO MOORE should rule this fucking world ! Not sorry 'bout rude language but only for writing in Lafayette's language !
@xeridian Have to respectfully disagree. FUNKADELIC!!! But these guys are tough-tough-tough and will grind any band over the past 25 years into dust. Was blasting Psychologically Overcast, Unyielding Condition, Love Hate, Rock Star, Party with Sadaam on the way home from work.
@clh2192 That's a bit iffy but you make a good point, yet Parliament never did metal and not really punk or ska either to be fair! :P Sure they have little moments here and there but they didn't write songs that were each in their own genres. You can cross 5 or 6 different genres listening to a single Fishbone album, other than funk some things Parliament did/does you can't fit into a genre at all. lol Kinda like Frank Zappa.
@xeridian Is there something that Bernie Worrell, Garry Shider, Eddie Hazel, Bootsie, Phelps, Fred Wesley, Maceo, Michael Hampton...etc. can't play- LOL? And they started off as a doo-wop group. Maybe I'm biased, but to me P-Funkadelic will blow away anybody, and they went in every direction- Eulogy and Light, Knee Deep, Maggot Brain, Fantasy is Reality, Vital Juices, Put Love in Your Life, Up For The Downstroke, Good Ol Music...etc. The Bomb!
@guzzbuster For real??? ... I LOVED From Zero. Was very disappointed that they didn't 'catch on' (marketability-wise, ya know?). Their music packed awesome punch ~ Fast, creative, insanely tight, GORGEOUS harmonies.... just never understood why Jett & the boys never took off. One Nation Under was a fucking killer album...
I can DEFINITELY hear (now that I think about it) how Fishbone was probably influential to their sound!
Saw Fishbone in GR, Mich.. "Bitches With Problems" opened for them. LoL.
This song is heavy I'm new to Fishbone but they are most innovative only band that know of that has the skill to push the music boundries insted of staying with what is the norm.
This album had was a huge departure from the traditional FB sound but damn was it good. I still have a scar from landing on athe stage barricade after falling off the crowd right after this came out. Drummer go hard ass fuck at 3:30!
Give a monkey a brain and they WILL think that they are the centre of the universe. AKA britney, lady gaga, spice hos, all hos, pussycat hos, hos aloud, etc.
I had this album, entered the contest for an acoustic bass, what ever happened to this amazing band
Hey guys our band covered this song back in 1995 and no one knew they were and I say it still rocks and fun to play live. Check it out "Mother Reign End The Reign" on Youtube.....
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELL NAW, this is the shit right here!!! I got all of their Columbia/Sony output in my private collection as a matter of fact. Album this song came from was unfortunately their last for that label. Only real problem with the whole thing was that it came out 7 years TOO DAMN EARLY, LOL!!! That was always Fishbone's problem; they were usually so far out at the front of the pack that even the heavily trend-fixated music industry couldn't properly keep pace...
How ?By telling the band that this song is just as good as "servitude" and that with years passing by, it still has fascinating qualities harmonically. I find its lyrics pretty good actually and this dark ambience would bring something
very different from the soul/funk songs they already master on stage.
By telling them that they could bring the holy ghost on stage with this and that they could freak the audience out !
