Still waiting for a hero to upload the whole "Magic is a Child" album... the whole album sounds like magic even though, with amazing songs like "On the road", "Spread your wings", "listen" among other. Such a pitty not to find it.
Anyone who saw them live knew the albums were so far from the live experience as to almost be an entirely different band. I've never met anyone who has seen them who doesn't say they were by far the best live band they'd ever seen.
saw the band at the tower theater in philly in 74. 1st concert i ever saw with lasers and projection screens. larry fast joined them playing keyboards. the final song with such a keyboard cressendo that it blew everyone there away to the point that very few of us had the wherewithall to clap. totally awesome.
The impotant aspect of Nektar, in addition to being creative, long-played music, (and great if you were smoking the weak weed of the 70's), is that they are a Concept Album band. Remember the Future helped me get thru High School, and some bad times. They take an idea, develop it, and make and album out of it. Of course, that kind of freedom today is non-existent. Back in the day, we had time to listen to music, not just play Pinball.
All of Recycled Part 1 is on the new live CD, "Fortyfied" celebrating Nektar's 40th Anniversary. You can get it on their website nektarsmusic. They also released a new studio album "Book of Days" last year.
Love the music and cool to see a brotha down with it but this art. Art is not reality. It is better than reality in some ways but reality is always a MF. Reality always trumps everything. I'm referring to the message in this song. It's very anthropomorphic. We don't have much say in the whole climate change phenomenon, if that is what some might presume this speaks to. Nice to imagine so but it is all presumption and whimsy, like Global Warming hehe. Great music though no doubt.
I have this in my cabinet somewhere still! Oh I see - The vocals - You only get the effects track on this upload - It was a great album though - The 70's - How do you describe that vibe to the kids today? It sucks HAVING real freedom and then watching it disappear. Definitely was a different world back then.
You are right! even when you add &fmt=18 to end of url it doesn't give you stereo -_-.
All 4 parts is in mono it seems. Thanks for telling me! Something went wrong with the upload, maybe. Atleast you can hear it at Nektar's webpage (link in description) in HQ stereo!
Worse than mono - one channel is missing. You need to make .AVI files in HD stereo, which need to contain mp3 stereo audio at 44kHz and h264, 720p (1280 x 720) video at 2 to 3 MHz. Send me the .WAV files and cover pics and i'll make the .AVI files.
@Anirml I saw them at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic NJ and they did this album from top to bottom with the light show (Joe's Lights, Joshua Light Show or Pig Lights, don't remember which). this album remains as my brother once said, the closest thing to a perfect album, especially in its flow. Great stuff.
This was so far ahead of there time,I got to see them live in Allentown Pa in 74 all i can say is wow There will never ever be another Nektar Thanks for the memories
301 if you count your humble narrator, namely myself. I played a whole through "A Tab In The Ocean" in high school circa 1974. When are they going to re-master more of their CD's? This mono sounds better than the Bellaphon import I own.
OMG - it's been so long and still remember every twist and turn.

@UncleGeou2b i saw them at the beacon theater in the 70s,
they played a tab in the ocean, and i forget what. i saw them
at the chance in poughkeepsie, ny. i forget what they played,
but i was seated at a table on the floor smack in front of
the stage. i have photos somewhere, or the ex supposedly does.
i bought their lps. i listened to them. i was there.
as far as live, i remember genesis. i saw them eight times,
and i still listen to them.

Its full of so much energy yet contains solid melodies.
