  • Now this is my type of Jazz. John Coltrane is the Shit.

  • this doesn't start the way it should

  • @BennyGaberMusic Youtube doesn't allow most Impulse! labeled albums. Only if you remove the first few seconds the video you post won't be deleted. So there you go. I sure hope it doesn't bother you too much.

  • @Praguedive just make the music 12 seconds into your video, place filler music to start instead. youtube doesn't listen to the whole song

  • @JKmma911 Good idea, I've never thaught of that before. I could try a nice opening song for all of those Impulse! videos. But the thing is, I don't have the copy's anymore, so it would be a rather costly and time-consuming operation. Maybe I'll do it someday, or maybe other people will do it before me. Meanwhile I sure hope it doesn't bother you to much. Greets, Praguedive.

  • I personnally just don't get how jazz musicians and jazz lovers simply can't get into this! O_O

  • @BennyGaberMusic Then get the hell out, bitch.

    Snap.

  • @sk82live87 I said can't motherfucker

  • Free jazz!!

  • play this as loud as possible, lay back, relax, and let your mind go on a trip through the universe...

  • love this tune, beatifull facture, sound and Master playing!

  • Watch this be/BzONbC8jlew

  • Ahh, Elvin Jones and Rashied Ali fighting as drummers in the battle between cosmos and chaos.

  • I've always found that Meditations was a very hard record to get into, because of the overwhelming sound of these master musicians. But as always with the free music of Coltrane, I knew that if I listened carefully there would be a reward, and I wasn't wrong. There is so much beauty to be found o n Meditations.

  • i love coltrane but i do not love this album

  • @babykitten77 That's ok. If ya love Trane, its all good :)

  • Does anyone else hear "Pop goes the Weasle"? Ayleresque.

  • @nobodady1 Yep! It's in there!

  • Dave Longstreth of Dirty Projectors likes this.

  • @PorroFirst Are you Mr. Longstreth? If so, I am one of your admirers. I have Bitte Orca.

  • @nobodady1 Sadly I'm not. But an admirer also.

  • Listen to this when completely inebriated.

  • omg. I love this so much.

  • A revealing piece of music - when I first heard of John Coltrane I knew nothing from him. By chance I got this LP first in my fingers at the age of 17, standing in a record store, putting on the headphones - and, wow, this was it, for what I was searching for. Listening to the whole lp gives me really a meditation. Actually because it is very wild and at the same time peaceful. Probably the best thing Trane ever made. But you have to listen carefully.

  • Both 'Meditations' and 'Ascension' are a permanent part of my regular listening! Starts with an Albert Ayler type of rallying for unity!

  • amazing song and album, came across this gem last night

  • Well, i have to say that it's my favorite by the moment. It's perfect for me, a Spiritual free jazz suite...

  • This is not my favorite Trane album (I prefer 'Live in Seattle' and 'Japan'), but it's without a doubt one of his very important ones. Not for the faint at heart, but nevertheless extremely spiritual. Don't worry if you think you recognize a song called 'Leo'; youre correct.
