@BennyGaberMusic Youtube doesn't allow most Impulse! labeled albums. Only if you remove the first few seconds the video you post won't be deleted. So there you go. I sure hope it doesn't bother you too much.
@JKmma911 Good idea, I've never thaught of that before. I could try a nice opening song for all of those Impulse! videos. But the thing is, I don't have the copy's anymore, so it would be a rather costly and time-consuming operation. Maybe I'll do it someday, or maybe other people will do it before me. Meanwhile I sure hope it doesn't bother you to much. Greets, Praguedive.
I've always found that Meditations was a very hard record to get into, because of the overwhelming sound of these master musicians. But as always with the free music of Coltrane, I knew that if I listened carefully there would be a reward, and I wasn't wrong. There is so much beauty to be found o n Meditations.
A revealing piece of music - when I first heard of John Coltrane I knew nothing from him. By chance I got this LP first in my fingers at the age of 17, standing in a record store, putting on the headphones - and, wow, this was it, for what I was searching for. Listening to the whole lp gives me really a meditation. Actually because it is very wild and at the same time peaceful. Probably the best thing Trane ever made. But you have to listen carefully.
This is not my favorite Trane album (I prefer 'Live in Seattle' and 'Japan'), but it's without a doubt one of his very important ones. Not for the faint at heart, but nevertheless extremely spiritual. Don't worry if you think you recognize a song called 'Leo'; youre correct.
Now this is my type of Jazz. John Coltrane is the Shit.

@Praguedive just make the music 12 seconds into your video, place filler music to start instead. youtube doesn't listen to the whole song

Both 'Meditations' and 'Ascension' are a permanent part of my regular listening! Starts with an Albert Ayler type of rallying for unity!
