Yes, Stardriven, I did get your messages. Thank you for taking the time to respond. It's nice to know that Peter and Amy went on with their lives (although separately) and have hopefully found happiness.
Lizfan, I agree that there should have been a finale where they made it back to Quadris. I especially wanted to see it after the Triangle episode. There could have even been a TV movie, but obviously not.
@stardriven: Peter and Amy were together? Please give details! No one has been able to keep up with Peter since he left the soaps, and we've heard rumors of a child (Peter's), but nothing genuine. What is going on with our heroes?
I'm glad they revised the pilot. I didn't like this one. This show could have been great if the producers hadn't gotten sloppy. I wish there'd been a series finale with Matt & Walt going back to their home planet & kicking ass & winning back their planet from their enemies.
i saw this for the first time in 1986 on malaysian TV! imagine, it came out in the US in 1982 and it only came to malaysia in 1986 ! i watched every episode religiously, never understood at the time why it ended abruptly.
Thanks for letting me know bagolyg 11. I think I know what you mean in that the way he acts and talks. They don't act like someone with the personalities of the millineuum. It must be a bitter pill to swallow when you are no longer famous anymore and Hollywood doesn't care about you. You can send me another message at your convinience.
My mother named me after a guy who had telekinesis, he showed her by moving a heavy ceramic ashtray across a glass table without touching it. He was in the military, and mysteriously committed "suicide" by chopping off his arms and legs, according to the actual report.
How does one dismember oneself? How could anyone be stupid enough to believe that, especially those in charge of investigating such a thing..?
The U.S. gov't has been working on psychic warfare for a very long time.
Hmmm, know what. Knowing how the PR machine works in Hollywood one can't help but wonder if they changed his name from David to Matthew, because Having the words David & Star so close together might sound Jewish.
HEY THANKS! Been wondering if Matthew Starr was just one of my dreams or something, now I know that I really did used to love and watch this show as a kid in 1980! Seeing it now... kind of reminds me of luke skywalker from star wars somehow. Where is peter barton today? And as a kid I always thought that robot chasing him from this particular episode was the infamous Boba Fett, anyone with me on that one?
@diablogirl59 i know peter barton, he is an ass hole in real life. he dated my sister and they had a daughter named bella. now my sister hates him and he does whatever he can to ruin her life.
@bagolyg11 Oh my god really! My Mom wonders about whatever happend to him. He was supposed to be the guy who was to derail-ruin Tom Cruise acting career and Star Power, but instead the opposite happend. I guess the Hollywood of Today doesn't care about him "PETER BARTON." If you care to send me a reply send me one.
@soundgarden700 i dont know much about his career.. i can tell you he plays golf, he taught me how. he is a pretty funny person in a weird way. not that he says funny jokes but its the way he talks and acts. seems very spacey. and he acts like dinosaurs
this brings back memories. of all the things i remember the most from childhood, it's matthew star. this wonderful show shaped me into what i am today.
NBC. Also, there were more popular shows that season: MASH, Dallas, Simon & Simon, Dallas, A Team, Three's Company, Newhart, One Day at a Time, and The Jeffersons. Maybe if it had run in 1981 (but didn't because of the fire accident, which delayed it until 1982), things might have been different.
I recall starting to post these to Usenet years ago from the Sci-Fi Masterworks run but stopped. I also had the entire run. Those were nice as they included interviews with the stars and production staff. Do you have those interviews to post?
I hung out with Peter Barton about 3 years ago at a place called Dukes in Malibu. I recognized him from Friday the 13th and struck up a conversation. Very down to earth guy. He told me all sorts of things about Linda Blair and how he got involved in acting/ect. He mentioned always seeing Tom Cruise at his auditions in the early early 80's before this show. I know he mentioned the movie Taps and a few others. He actually beat out Tom Cruise for the part of Matthew Star.
Yeah, the always super-sweet Amy Steel. She as Ginny, was hands down the series single best heroine.
Her other two noteable movies--the Howie Mandel comedy Walk Like a Man, and April Fool's Day--are also on DVD. I got'em. I have to say that Friday Part 2 is her best genre moment.
And yeah, Peter Barton. I also got the long out of print Hell Night on DVD, and of course, his appearane in The Final Chapter in the boxset. He always seem'd genuine and cool.
They should bring back early 80s disco hairdos once again. I miss the time where disco hair was the "in" thing back in the ealry 80s. Hey, I use to have one sometime ago. Scott Baio, Peter Barton, John Stamos....all had those classic early 80s haircuts. They need to comeback...I sound nostalgic, I know. But I miss these simple days. This is when hairstyle was definitely in style.
Thanks for posting! I noticed the old Sci-Fi logo :) You probably recorded this when they used to show a bunch of episodes of some obscure TV show back to back all day long, a different one each day. That was a great idea, Sci-Fi should do that again.

I wonder why this show is ranked on TV guide's 50 worst TV shows of all time. Ranked #22. That stinks.

This show was critically lambasted when it was on, which is also why it didn't last long, in addition to being put into bad time slots.

And the role of Pam Elliot was portrayed by none other than Heather Locklear for Tom Cruise's screen test.

Did He talk about Heather Locklear? I read that she tried out for this show also.

Interesting that the two leads, Barton and Steel, were both also in 'Friday the 13th' movies. Amy is alway rated as the fav. 'Friday' survivor.
