@alteye1 Amen sir. My father is a police officer and I am going to follow in his footsteps as well. I give my gratitude and appreciation to the men and women who serve and protect our country both at home and overseas. My respect and thankfulness goes out to those people.
@alteye1 Amen, my father is a police officer and so will I be very soon. I pray for the safety and well-being of all those who serve and protect our country and put their lives on the line day after day.
"Going Home"was adapted by the composer Dvorzak for his "New World Symphony"and is Known as the Largo. He heard it in the 1800's when he travelled accross the US continent. It was a spritual sung sung by Negro slaves as they picked cotton and did whatever tasks. They sang about going back to Africa. It is certainly not a Scottish ballad as Annasavi thinks. I'm Scottish by the way
@tomsaysfuckyou Yeah, of course, most Negro slaves had access to to the Music Halls, so of course they would have heard it and then decided on some words. Whats your point !!!!!!!
2. Lieutenant O'Donell, rest in peace and wait for me when my time has finally come. God bless all Police Officers and Soldiers risking their life every day
"Going Home" how appropriate a song at the end of the day. We always wish our brothers and sisters to go home after serving sworn duty each day. Unfortunately that is not what happens. For evil sometimes rears its ugly head and we meet it head on with courage, valor and God's blessing. Thank you for this wonderful memorial ...a place to just be present and heal as time goes by, Knowing that we have each other back and support really matters. Its not just about the playing of the song, the words.
the song is 'going home" its a Scottish tune for fallen brothers in times of old and they played that at my granddads funeral god bless all brave men and woman who put there lives on the line daily . xox
@kimberlyanna1 I refer you to my comment. It certainly was not what you've heard before. Listen to this and read about him in Wiki. For some reason I can't post you a link so go to You Tube and search NEW WORLD SYMPHONY and selct LARGO. Hope this helps.
Great song. Unfortunately its used to bring fallen soldiers back to UK. Its generally piped at the back of the C130. Heard it way to often now. God bless all people that server the people.
I have heard the bagpipes play this at firefighter LODD funerals and did not know what the song was. The song will have even more impact now...although I pray to never hear it at another funeral for a fallen brother. Stay safe all.

@MrCagivaman I understand what you mean, but where do the yanks get involved in the 1812, unless you are refering to the American war of that time.

Way too fast brother. Suppose to be haunting and slow.
firebasedems 2 years ago 2
way to fast is correct. they tell us when we are learning pipe tunes to learn the words and hear it sung so we do it at the right speed.
