dollar for dollar one of the best guitars you could buy, stands up to any ..... any style of music. NOT A ES335 BUT 1/3 OF THE PRICE AND 2/3 rds AS GOOD.
Could someone explain to me what tone controls are for the neck pick and the bridge pick up? i.e. the two controls toward the floor are ____ the two controls toward the ceiling are ____? Also my switch moves up and down (floor - ceiling and they control what pick up? I'm learning to play the Blues after a 40 year lay off. Do some of you have favorite settings for playing the blues on the AS73? Right now I'm only playing out of a Fender Frontman 25R. Need your help, Thanks
In order: first ____ Bridge Pickup volume and tone; second ____ Neck Pickup volume and tone. Switch: Up - Neck Pickup; Down - Bridge Pickup; Middle - Neck and Bridge Pickups. Now Dude... Play the Blues Good Luck!!!!
The neck is fairly thin on these and I like it that way. I bought mine today at Guitar Center, got the cherry one, and it is set up nice and plays great right out of the box. I checked out the Epiphone Dot and this Ibanez is much better put together and has better sound in my opinion. The Epi seemed really "cheap" in construction. The pots were loose, the jack was loose and the setup wasn't near what the Ibanez is. The finish is fantastic, deep dark cherry red. Seems very nice for the price.
I have an "AM-73" which is the all-maple body/top/neck model. I had my tech rewire it with vintage cloth wire and old-stlye caps, Switchcraft switch/jack, Seth Lover nickel covered pups, and a Tusq nut. It's got Ernie Ball 11's on it and MY GOD it's a tone monster! Sustains, rings, chimes, growls - it does jazz, blues, rock, country...ANY style can be covered with this guitar! Total cost including labor - $485.00. AND it sounds as good or better than my 67 ES-335.
I own an Epiphone Elitist 1965 Casino (spent a pretty penny) not wanted to risk damage I purchased the AS73 to use in some of the more undesirable places my band plays. Found the AS73 has become my axe of choice. Many factors go into choosing your axe. You need to play both to decide for yourself which one you prefer. The only time you can say one is better than the other is when you compare apples to apples. Good luck.

I never thought there was enough tonal difference between the Neck and Bridge pick-ups on this guitar. Just a personal thought.
