  • i know where to find the keys and my laptops right directional button has a keyboard witha light over it..but when i do it nothing works. i have a Dell Latitude D630 Core 2 Duo..?help?

  • Thank you!

  • Does not work ANY MORE (ON E4200) I only see two options off and "sensor enabled" but always on can't be selected why not? And if I set it to "sensor enabled" the backlight never comes on not even in the dark. It used to work what gives? i updated the driver and now the menu is prettier but no more functional.

  • Is there another way to enable it? I pressed the button and nothing happened, i know i have a back-lit keyboard because it has the symbol and randomly turned on once

  • latitude d620 ? do it have Backlit

  • Booyah!

  • If you don't have a backlit keyboard, you could always mod it hehehe

  • brilliant. perfect instructions! many thanks.

  • i cant find fn, is there another way

  • @skaterchick077 It's the function key used to access "system" level commands on the keyboard, usually denoted in light blue on the keys.

  • @skaterchick077 the fn key is on the bottom left hand corner, between the windows key and the control key.

  • @skaterchick077 well only laptops have fn...

  • That's why DELL isn't user friendly, a MacBook Pro , pre- 2010 MacBook Air and 2003 -2006 PowerBook G4 had a ambient light sensor hidden below the speaker grilles , so when the ambient light goes down, so does the screen backlight and the Backlit Keyboard. Anyway , Apple was the first one to include Backlighting on a keyboard.

  • @86123maxxi I actually prefer using a button to activate it because you might want to conserve battery power and turn it off even if it is dark, this who actually cares if you have to press a button and waste like a millisecond of time, plus im not going to pay over £1000 for a medeocre laptop in terms of hardware, got my dell XPS for about £900 and that has a high end video card, an i7 dual HDD's, backlit keyboard...

  • Is somebody know how can turn off automatic turn off backlight? I want backlight all the time, no just when i use keyboard :)

  • Simple but awesome help!!

  • this only works if you have the backlite keyboard installed

  • I wish every user manuals were like dat !

  • Does the backlit keyboard gwork on a Dell Inspiron 14R? I hate when I need a flashlight to see what's going on

  • @levygonz backlight is only available on some models of Latitude and Precision notebooks.

  • @DellVlog

it is available on my VOSTRO as well....

  • how do i keep it on?

  • Nicenice, tyty.

  • this dosent work for my lap top E5500 and i have backlight

  • Thank you so much!

  • this doesnt work for my Dell latitude E6400

  • Thanks!!!

  • Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • i have a dell studio xps 13 and i was wondering if it came with a backlit keyboard because when i press FN + --> it light up only the touch pad. Help anyone?

  • thankyou haysoos!

  • hi!!!!!! trisha!

ur prob has been solved or not?

    may i know where r u from?

  • as far i understood- this is a hardware function- i.e it doesn't require additional software (lege: it works on every operating system), isn't it?

  • It only works with laptops that are brought with a backlight keyboard, like my Dell Studio 15

  • light goes on light goes off light goes on light goes off

  • Does that work on a Vostro 1400?

  • cool im typing in the dark with my ALIENWARE lol cool feature
