Hey i have the ion drumset with 3 roland CY-8s and they seem to accidentally trigger ALOT during the playing of songs, and sometimes even when im not playing at all... I took one apart and it has two wires running to the metal trigger plate... should I clip one of these to cut down on the accidental triggers?

@CrimsonGuardJay No. Both of those wires are 100% necessary. Unfortunately, just plugging a CY-8 into the ION brain will give you no sensitivity adjustment. What you'd need to do is actually add some variable resisters(potentiometers) in between the cymbals and the drum brain.

Sorry. They don't sell the module separately. However, you can go to edrums . info and buy a GHWT module modded with jacks to plug in your pads into. Works with any drumset.

Was my kit, and the guy playing brought his Ion brain. He had never played this kit before(or any "kit" really), but he was a marching drummer w/ snare, so he has bad ass chops, just not used to playing a kit sitting down :). I have since sold him my Roland so I am sure he is much more practiced, and bought my own Ion, then modded my Ion with Roland mesh. Both of us are casual players though cos most of our time is spent earning the $ to afford the family and THEN the toys, catch 22!

you can't use the Roland bass trigger though for the xbox bass drum. as the video demonstrates he's using a separate foot pedal to trigger the bass drum for the game. good stuff!

every video I've seen, everyone still sets up the drum rocker with the rockband layout with all the pads in a row in front of you and they claim it feels like they are actually playing drums. how can they know that feeling if they have in the crappy rock band layout?

Nahh, detecion was perfect. We had just set it up, and going from the 4 pad RB1 kit to a TD-10 is a challenge :). ALso, he played in a drumline (snare) so he certainly has chops, but a full kit is different :).

I don't get why u think u r screwed. The Ion is a real kit once you buy a couple of components to finish it off (the roadie kit has those components for an example). THe Ion IS the real thing, just playing RB is not (because of the lack of hihat open and close/using left foot to keep time, and the changing of snare / hihiat pad depending on song). It is pretty close tho.

Bought the Ion kit for $180 brand new shipped. It was cheaper than buying the J5(and I got a drum kit in the deal), an a heck of a lot easier than doing my own midi. In the edrum world $180 is peanuts, a single cymbal costs more than that!

Just added a video response from Cena for the J5. Sweet, this video is really getting some play, I have seen ton's of Cena's video's, didn't think he would see mine!

As a side note, if money were no object, I would have done a J5 but as I mentioned at the beginning, back when eBay cashback was around with Paypal coupons, brand new Ion kits were $180 shipped, the RB2 J5 is $300. With the Ion I also got a drum kit along witht the brain, that I could have parted out making the brain free!

Nope, not without something called a kick box or similar to translate the Roland drum trigger output (that is graduated / velocity sensing) to an edge tragger (on/off).

As he said, it's electric drums and SO IT IS REAL, it's great for occasions like this but I wouldn't use electric otherwise than noise and sound controlling... or for purposes such as on Rock Band or Logic Studio or whatever music editor thingy you use...

He is using a good electric drum set but if you want to play Rock Band just get the normal one, three drums and two cymbals or otherwise the "better" quality "premium" one by Ion. Simple.
