@dekerm actually, to call it greek wouldbe a little bit cruel. it is a pontiac dance, not greek i guess. because they had to speak in greek language in byzantine times, doesn't mean they were greek, ey?

in ottoman times, every greek, armenian, pontiac people had to speak ottoman turkish as well, this is what happens when you are under pressure.

but the pontians, call themselves as greeks. The armenians, call themselves armenians, even the turks are calling them by their nationality. There are some pontians even in our days that call themselves as Hellenes (greeks). I know it because i've heard it with my own ears in a trip to Pontus.

@dekerm that's strange, though i saw a lot of videos on youtube where pontiac people tried to claim they'are not greek on the comments.

If they call them Greeks so, that's not cool for me, it's an assimilation.

however, it's not so important, we're just having a conversation here =)
