@i3oosted the 1/4 of a watt setting is pretty quiet! You're likely to find the opposite issue really. If you want the amp loudish then you also have to drive it. Thus you're going to spend much of your time in crunch territory (not much headroom so you have to use it at full watts but volume turned down low to get cleans)
I have the 8" combo which i route thru a 12" celest. custom (nothing fancy) and it has such a good tone for any price range and especially being $200. Wonder what more tone I could unleash thru better speakers and better tubes!
@TheDerijcker It really depends on what sort of band you're playing with and what so of gig you're doing. It is only 4w though so it's not tremendously loud and it won't have the same headroom as say a 10 or 15 watt amp.
@TheDerijcker Then you probably want to look for something with a bit more power. The 5w Blackstar HT5 should probably be what you're looking at if you're using a PA (put the speaker emulated output through the PA) otherwise something like the Orange Tiny Terror.
Excuse me but your title says "mini" which is a combo with 6.5" speaker and if I am not mistaken, a different attenuation, so this title was deceptive.
Sounds great, but I want to hear the mini with its 1/4 and 1/10 watt attenuation, or whatever it is.
@00000stephen These are probably made in China like most Vox amps. But I haven't heard any bad things about it. You can't just assume that if it's made in China it's not going to last long and if it's made in USA it's going to last longer than you. I have a distortion pedal that was made in China in the 80s and it's still working. I have an amp made in China in the 90s and it's still working. And look at the late 60s solid state Vox amps that were made in USA and are known for being unreliable.
@slpplexi1969 I have an amp from the late 60s, made in the USA that still works like new. I have two Guilds from the early/mid 70s and one from the 80s. They still play well. I have an original mxr phase 100 made in 1974 and several old made in USA EHX pedals that still work. I have four amps made in China two of which no longer work. I have about ten made in China pedals from the 80s-2000s, half of them have bad switches and inputs.I dont want to waste any more money on chinese crap.
Great playing !! But The amp/speaker combination is actually a AC4TVH & V112TV Cabinet . It's a 12 inch speaker and not a 10 inch. I play this setup fot a half ear now and it's a very good practice amp ! Thanks for the review
@trojanadm1980 Hi Trojan - the tone control was set at about half way & the volume was about half way on the 4 watt mode & all the way up on the 1 & quarter watt modes. Cheers, Lee
@sonofkikkoman Been playing a few years, although been in a serious rut for about the last 15 years!! I need to learn some new stuff & challenge myself a bit more - just bought Guitar Pro so no excuse not to practice more!! Youtube don't let you embed links into the video that take the viewer away from Youtube - there is a proper link in the description under the video that works. Cheers, Lee

Do you think the the 1/4 watt setting is still too loud for the bedroom? Can you get clean and dirty at bedroom volume?

I wish some dealer would order enough of these to convince Vox to offer them in black or classic Vox brown...this color looks awful to me...;)

What does this sound like with a strat near full volume on the 4 watt mode? Does the overdrive become too much and lose um... clarity :S ?

wow the drive sounds really good -all things considered - at 1/4 watt
very imressive
