the tuning is great, not meantone or anything but it's not an ideal world.

I'm speaking about pitch. They're at 415 which is too high. Again in an ideal world they'd be somewhere around 400. Louis XIV's private pitch which is where these concerts would've been played.

This is part of a published set of oboe sonatas, so one doesn't need to play it with only "Louis XIV's private pitch".

I know, they're all wonderful pieces. So satisfying to play, especially on hautboy. I guess I'm just a purist when it comes to music written by Louis' personal musicians. maybe it's just a wind player thing but they feel much more comfortable at around 400.
