To me, the movie lacked a very important thing in superhero movies. And I cant believe that happened with Hugo Weaving, but I'm just guessing he didn't have much to work with. The villain was so crappy! you never actually fear for him to ever defeat cap america, he was never a threat at all, and that to me just makes the whole movie kinda pointless.
In all fairness this movie was a teensy tiny bit above sucking. Considering the fact that it's a movie about Captain America battling it out against technologically advanced occult nazis and it features Hugo Weaving, it's impressive just how much they forked it up. Mr. Anderson does not approve.
My favorite character was Stark. I just LOVE Iron Man and seeing Tony's dad was a huge surprise. Also, (I can't remember his name) the sergeant is one of my favorite actors ever.

I thought Hugo Weaving did as good a job as Red Skull as he possibly could even though his performance as Red Skull was an Agent Smith retread. Chris Evans did as good as he could as Cap, I think his performance was remarkably bland. I'd give it a 7/10 though.
I thought that line the guy with the orange mustach gives when he got put into the cage was so cheesy! I hoped he got hit in the jaw with a baton the whole way through the rest of the movie!

I saw this movie last night and really enjoyed it (can't say the same for Green Lantern). I was surprised Bucky was in this film. I don't know much about the comics for Captain America but as a kid I watched a 60s cartoon on VHS and Bucky was the Captain's sidekick like Robin. So I'm glad they avoided that take on the character and yet had him in it. The only Marvel film I haven't seen leading up to The Avengers is Thor but I'll get that on DVD.

@SONYroxs If he had a "Robert Downey Jr flair" he wouldn't be Steve Rodgers. Steve isn't cocky, womanising, arrogant or particularly funny. Chris Evans portrayed Rodgers exactly as he is in the comic. Rodgers is nothing like Tony Stark, they're actually extreme opposites.

@SONYroxs Fair enough, I can see where you'd have a problem with his portrayal. Now that you mention it, he was slightly dull. And seeing as he's already so level-headed and straightforward it's hard to see what personal conflict he could have in the future. I suppose they'll just play up the "fish out of water" angle.

I personally enjoyed this film more than Harry Potter and Transformers 3. And I'm not a huge Captain America fan. I was smiling the whole beginning because I was thrilled to see how well they developed Steve. Of course being the plot of the actual comics the film surprisingly makes what I think is a perfect blend of goofiness and seriousness. It is definitely the best Marvel film(in my opinion).

@Jsbeatboxer It's the same thing with a frozen caveman or dinosaur. He was frozen solid, everything stopped growing but the Super Soldier serum was able to keep him alive the whole time.
The movie was good, no doubt about that, but I was actually disappointed. Here's why. I was so excited to see this movie because Captain America is by far my favorite hero. So my expectations for the movie were way too high. I expected 10 out of 10. The best way I think that would have made this film better would have been if they made it into two films. That way they could have sticked more true to the comic and not have to worry about setting it up for the Avengers until the second film.
A clear example I can think of were the writing totally betrays the character when getting a Hollywood reboot is captain Picard. He totally acts out of character throughout all of the TNG movies.
Just saw the movie and really enjoyed it. I can't help but root for the scrawny kid who isn't noticed by anyone and only wants a chance to do something great. I feel like a part of me just gravitates to that struggle.
The end of this video cracked me up. I've had a similar thought run through my head before.
Just got back from watching it, so I immediately came here to finish the review, haha. I thought the movie was just overall awesomeness. They did a really good job at making everything work. Nothing felt very out of place at all, like the scene with Red Skull handing over his car keys (he needs his scientist alive). The humor was also very well done. Just enough cheese.
haha the people behind me were confused that the red skull's clock was not digital... Onre of them was explaining that 70 years ago they didn't have those or cell phones.
Never been a fan of the cap or marvel for that matter but honestly I didn't like this movie at all. I think the hulk movie with norton was the best of all the avenger lead ups. Too bad bottoms being replaced by a rom com joker.

I really liked the movie, as I always loved Captain America.
The green screen parts were good, and I bet most people can't even detect, since it's some fast scenes.
Anyway, the only thing I felt was weird when I saw was Cap shooting.
From what I remember from the comics he pretty much never uses any weapon.
Maybe they thought it would be ridiculous for him to carry only the shield?
Thought Chris Evans wouldn't be good, but I was surprised.

He had emotion and ambition even when the odds were against him. When he became Cap, that just seem to go away

@SONYroxs Fair enough, I can see where you'd have a problem with his portrayal. Now that you mention it, he was slightly dull. And seeing as he's already so level-headed and straightforward it's hard to see what personal conflict he could have in the future. I suppose they'll just play up the "fish out of water" angle.

i love the way all the avenger movie join together in a way. like characters.great movie over all. did anybody else sit till after the credits to see the avenger trailer - it was so awesome

I personally enjoyed this film more than Harry Potter and Transformers 3. And I'm not a huge Captain America fan. I was smiling the whole beginning because I was thrilled to see how well they developed Steve. Of course being the plot of the actual comics the film surprisingly makes what I think is a perfect blend of goofiness and seriousness. It is definitely the best Marvel film(in my opinion).

good film average start, from middle to end the vibe of da film action, acting etc was wicked. if u love comic books u will love movie, if u like a good film u should love it to. watch till end of credits for avengers trailer with iron man, thor capn america, nick fury, hawkeye etc

when i saw the trailer , i completely change CA into my favourite hero.
but i have to say the plot was rushy . it started when CA wanted a new suit . then everything became like so fast . busting ppl here and there . and they didnt show the development of his outfit , his vehicle , wth . so hasty .
poor peggy , they had a date . that really made me sad .
red skull wasnt really that scary or badass . just another regular villian with great makeup but still can be tolerated .

IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE, dont know why people say its rubbish or crap, the story is accurate for captain america in the comics, acting was great and actions scenes were great aswell. this is 100% the best Marvel film and 2nd is X-men first class but cap movie isnt much better than x-men fc only by abit. score for the film 9/10

I'm not racist nor northamerican yet I found wrong the NIGGER speaking german and french and drinking in a bar with white soldiers when in reality they couldn't come close to a white guy in those days. Also, women in service where either in the kitchen, offices or nursing, not training soldiers and not in the field. Also, why was Peggy british? wasn't there a young american actress to play the role?

The movie was good, no doubt about that, but I was actually disappointed. Here's why. I was so excited to see this movie because Captain America is by far my favorite hero. So my expectations for the movie were way too high. I expected 10 out of 10. The best way I think that would have made this film better would have been if they made it into two films. That way they could have sticked more true to the comic and not have to worry about setting it up for the Avengers until the second film.

A clear example I can think of were the writing totally betrays the character when getting a Hollywood reboot is captain Picard. He totally acts out of character throughout all of the TNG movies.

Just saw the movie and really enjoyed it. I can't help but root for the scrawny kid who isn't noticed by anyone and only wants a chance to do something great. I feel like a part of me just gravitates to that struggle.
The end of this video cracked me up. I've had a similar thought run through my head before.

Just got back from watching it, so I immediately came here to finish the review, haha. I thought the movie was just overall awesomeness. They did a really good job at making everything work. Nothing felt very out of place at all, like the scene with Red Skull handing over his car keys (he needs his scientist alive). The humor was also very well done. Just enough cheese.

Never been a fan of the cap or marvel for that matter but honestly I didn't like this movie at all. I think the hulk movie with norton was the best of all the avenger lead ups. Too bad bottoms being replaced by a rom com joker.
