  • why didn't you just switch the wifi card with the 3g?

  • I live in Argentina and customs officials here are so corrupted and prone to bribery that it is imposible for us to buy a Kindle directly from Amazon.

To get one you've got to buy it at MercadoLibre (an eBay-like local site) from someone who's travelled abroad and is selling it.

And you get to pay more than 200% it's price for it.

  • I got an used Kindle Keyboard Wi-Fi (third generation, without ads) for AR$ 650 and it's screensaver got partially frozen after three months of use.

I'm unsure if it got frozen because of a bug or a trauma.

I've already tried fully charging it and reseting it by holding the switch for 15/30 seconds, but the reboot didn't fix it.

I had a screensaver hack installed on it, too. But I don't think that matters.

  • Maybe it's got some sand in it (I went to the beach on vacation recently) (I used some pressurised gas to clean it a few days after it froze and I got home, though) I've yet to try opening it and cleaning it better...

Maybe it got hit and I didn't realize... I've always carried it inside a towel or a protective something, though.

I'm going to take a chance and buy the cheapest used Kindle I find on MercadoLibre and replace it's screen with the presumably broken one on my frozen Kindle.

  • Thanks, Djudovi! This worked perfectly for me after I charged it fully and did a reset by holding the on/off switch for 20 seconds.

  • how the fuck did they gave you money? you broke the screen not them.

  • @reventhiphopgr :) i told them that and they give me discount. there are many cases like that. so if anyone broke screen report it to amazon and you will need to call them and then they will give you discount or send you new one. if you have warranty :)

  • Fact: all Croatians have long hair, listens to metal and know how to hack :D

  • worked awesome for me! found a good screen in a cheap used non-3G, and the switch went smoothly! Thanks!

  • Where did you get your replacement screen, how much was it?

  • @legitlyLB He said in the video he bought a new one, the cheaper wi-fi one, and took the screen out of it and put it in his 3G one.

  • I also am looking for a place where you can buy a replacement screen that is reasonable? The only ones I have seen advertised are more expensive than the device...

  • @scotdail Yeah tell me about it, I don't even know what these people are thinking. I also cracked my screen out of warranty, Amazon now wants me to settle for their bottom of the rung e-reader for 65 $, the darn thing costs 79$ new, so essentially they want me to trade in my device (which will more than likely be refurbed and resold) to save 15$, I'm unwilling to do this and plan to replace the screen myself. Please post if you find a reasonable online re-seller for the screen.

  • Worked for me also, thanks!

  • Hello Djudovi, thank you so much for this video! The replacement worked like a charm and I did not even get the error message with my Kindle.

  • Anyone got any ideas where you can just buy a replacement kindle screen? x

  • Music makes a change to the usual shit on here

  • This is a piece of crap...It's broke so easy, just be careful with your new toy.

  • just wondering, how did you break it, and how did you report that to amazon (e.g. fell of the table?) ? thanks for the video :)

  • interesting. just bought one myself. hopefully i wont break my
