I think it's absurd for people who now have the benefit of hindsight to criticize the network and the judges for the result of a singing competition that took place many yrs ago. I doubt if those people complained or even noticed Charice back then. Now that Charice is famous, they are like 'what were they thinking ?...oh she should've won, etc.etc.' But that is being disingenuous.
And to characterize "most pinoys" as superficial is kind of hypocritical.

@filipbong in our college class, many complained! That is also an observation related to me by friends i met when i started working. Seriously, this windfall of criticisms come from the fact that she really was the best but got 3rd. If I were the judges and the network, I will accept this criticisms becoz they are simply truth. Thats the the problem with most pinoys poor judgement its a singing contest but they give more edge on physical looks rather than real talent. This is a slapped on the face on our pinoy judges and fans for being biased on charice. Shame on you all who downed charice the foreighn experts took notice on her real talent and now charice grief was now heard. hi alduezajay? i heard that charice was eliminated on her first try in this LBS? was that the judges-judging? and who were the judges during finals? and do u have idea who were those judges? maybe i like to do judging on them! or from text votes also? i know this is history,but everytime i come to this site its really rediculous she lost on finals! & she lost here due to text voting,& after2yrs, david F. found here,& some commentors haters wants their idol to be on D.F instead of charice?i read

ABS CBN did the same thing to sheryn regis who lost to a wild card contestant, erik santos. kita naman galing ng mga girls pero mas pinaboran ang mga guys. Y was that? dahil ba sa matigas na dila ni sheryn when she talk coz of visayan accent? as gor GMA 7 naman, gerald santos won over aicelle santos who's equally competitive as the two girls.

Nasubaybayan pa namin ang contest na to, lalo na si Charice. We even thought na sya mananalo nung Grand Finals, hindi pala. I guess, sobrang nadala lang ang viewers sa itsura ni Sam, kahit yung quality ng voice e, pang so-so lang at walang sariling identity. While, Charice's voice quality is very powerful, to think na 12 or 13 lang sya that time. Even when she was young magaling na talaga. Na-improve pa lalo. She's truly AMAZING. Go Charice!

I saw Charice's interview on SNN and this was the time when she almost did not want to come back for the wild card.
This song was supposed to be sung at the later part of the contest...but she and her mom decided to use this song in any case that she would not make it in this round. Good decision.
