Yes, its MK 1 (video was uploaded on 12.02.2008, MK II came out in autumn 2008)

IMO, the 997 Carrera S is much better then the turbo version. Yes, the turbo is a little faster, but it sounds like you have a freaking shopvac in the back..... Not that true porsche sound!!

im intrested in 997 4s tiptronic (i would prefer manual,but this is opportunity ),can any one say hes opinion abouth 997 4s auto gear box,and does it make any diference to put x51 kit (im aiming on that) thank you

theres a lot of lag time with the tiptronic. id go for the manual with a sport button. (if you cant get a PDK)

I have a C4S Cab with tip. I do prefer the 4S over just the S.  The 4 negates the back end bias. If you are looking to add an aftermarket kit, there is a new Carrera power kit that Porsche will release later this year that should push the car to 415hp. But for the price $18k (us) I'd spend the extra to buy a turbo if you are after power.

on 2nd ,3rd and 4th gears , the X51 is slightly faster but you would only feel it in the 5-6,000 RPMs ..

I love this car. At around 5k rpm the engine opens up and you get a definite kick as the engine switches to high performance. (similiar to honda vtec i believe)

Yeah it's lovely! I had a Carrera S with the porsche sports exhaust for a week. Best stock sound I've ever heard in my life... was very sad to give back the keys but hey it's something to aim for :)

After a few years of hard work I finally got my dream car, first I had a 964 Targa, then went to 996 Carrera 4 and now currently the proud owner of a 997 Carrera S.

I have test driven M3s, XJRs, 355 and 360s even, but none can compare to the good old 911.

The sound, classic looks, performance, build quality and stunning steering feel are all things to die for.

Porsche - there is no substitute!

Congratulations! You are absolutely right! I have driven quite a few exotic cars and nothing compares to the 997 S... especially driving around London. It soaks up all those horrible bumps and lets you cruise in comfort... but press the S button and all hell breaks loose :)

997 S: 23,4 secs

997 turbo: 22,2 secs

Twice faster means that a 997 turbo should need 23,4 sec /2 )= 11,7 s.. no it takes 22,2secs..

Mex speed:

997 S: 293 km/h, 997 turbo: 310 km/h, "twice faster" means that a turbo should go to 586 km/h(293 x 2) ???

A 997 S is not a turbo but it goes fine enough for most car fans...
