this man is beautiful, every thing he does is breathtaking and awe inspiring. Shame on the tasteless and talentless US academy of motion pictures, for not giving him an oscar when he had to get one. It was Clint Eastwood who finally managed to give virtuoso Ennio Morricone some credit for a life time achievement award. Clint has always been an honorable gentleman. He deserves his legion of honor medal.

Beethoven pandered to the middle and upper class Europeans and was closed minded in that respect.

Ennio Morricone's music transcends all social boundries and is utterly universal, not many musicians have that quality, one other person was the late Bob Marley, Go anywhere in the world and people are playing Bob Marley tracks, not Beethoven.

@ralutjohn Except that Beethoven hated the upper classes. He originally dedicated his Eroica symphony to Napolean in the belief that the latter was about to spread the French revolutionary ideals to the whole of Europe. He famously scratched out the dedication when Napolean crowned himself Emperor of France (so much for equality).  As to pandering: then and now the people who buy art are people with spare money. You can't blame the artist for that.

This is not the original soundtrack recording by The Maestro, but it is a close approximation, no?

Here, the piano and oboe (at least) seem more prominent in this mix which has the benefits of modern digital recording in what sounds like a bigger space than Forum Music Village.

(I've been there: great that it's under a church ~ how appropriate for one who may be the reincarnation of Palestrina, but ~ Morricone deserves {at least} the kind of facilities enjoyed by Williams!)

Actually, I've made a misspelling below ~ that never helps on the Web!

Search instead for 'Le Professionnel' ( two Ns as well as two Ss). Add 'CD' and 'Ennio Morricone'.

Alternatively, for the Expanded CD, try the Italian title, 'Joss Il (that's cap I, lower-case L) Professionista'. There the theme "Le Vent, Le Cri" possibly outstays its welcome, but such CDs are for us Morricone buffs who want every note we can get.

The original CD has the same music as was on the LP. Is that enough? Enjoy
