yea..that's what you will find when you try to cook things is the item will initially burn as current flows through, then it start to track and burn a path between the 2 points, until a flash-over and arc is formed, or a quick discharge bang with your capacitor setup. Once there is a flash-over a low impedance arc is formed which shunts the energy away from the item lemon you want to destroy.
