No way. I don't want worship in a church devoid of colour and warmth and no liturgy. We are not roman catholics but protestant who have the best of both. We are what the church could have been if it had listened to Luther. Any way we are all part of the catholic church and it has nothing to do with the Pope and Rome. Have you read the creeds?

No he did not. Jesus's commission to Peter was for the there and then. Rome likes to think that it is the only one that is catholic but this is not true. Any church that believes in the trinity and what is in the creeds is following the catholic faith. Rome shoud accept the fact that we are all catholic but of different traditions that are equally valid. Lets celebrate what what unites us rather than look at where we differ.

The RCC NEVER taught that it was threw the hands of the priest that someone got to Heaven. It only taught that it was through what the priest taught that one could get to Heaven.

Second the Pope is the Bishop of Rome and the head of the Church b/c he is the head of alll the other Bishops. Peter was the head of the Apostles given to him by Christ Matt 16:18-19. Lutehr and the Reformers were the ones who brought a new belief system in order! Check you local library, genius!!!

@eljunior98 I know who and what the Pope is, and his priests, and the sctructure of the church. My point is this: the earliest Christians had no church, no priests and no Popes. They met in their homes and read and discussed the teachings of Christ. They lived their faith. Did they not go to Heaven? Did God reject them? The Pope and his boys were put into business by the Roman Emporer Constantine long after Christ was gone. And suddenly they were necessary to get to Heaven.

They didn't have the Bible we have today unitl the 4th century and they didn't used the OT u use b/c theirs was the Septuagint Greek with 46 books NOT the Jewish canon of Scripture that was approved at the Orthodox Jewish Council of Jamnia in 90AD.

@eljunior98 Hi, it took about 200 years for the early Christian communities to develop Bishops, primarily to standardize interpretation of Scripture. I agree that was a Church, and in my opinion probably the purest form of the Christian Church. I've been using the word "Church" in a different context. I've been referring to the state-approved political/corporate entity that tells its followers they won't get to Heaven without its services and holds their souls ransom.

The single most successful commercial enterprise in history, the Church with its own bank for instance, under investigation for money laudering. The moneylenders have crawled back into the temple. A long long time ago. How would Christ react to that?

@EraserKneaded Wow! I guess its safe to say that u can't argue back AGAINST the FACT that the RCC is One True Church started by Christ. Money laundering is ONLY found in a few dioceses in the world, and NOT the ENTIRE or the MAJORITY of the Church! I havent heard much or anything of the sort but I know that my Diocese doesnt have that issue and niether do most of the diocese in Latin America. What does money laundering have to do with Constantine in the 4thAD genius?

The Roman Catholic Church is a second generation organization created by Constantine when he made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire for his own political reasons. Hence the "Roman" in the title. It's not the church Christ had envisioned. Being a Jew, it's not likely he intended for Christians to be led by a Roman Pope tugging on the Emporer's toga.

I did not mean to imply that all Protestants burned witches-- just that historically early Protestants (which is a universal term for all Christian religions outside what is called "High" Churches, not one particular faith) were very aggressive and often violent. Puritans were a particular religion in the Protestant faith, and they weren't all that small...but your point is taken :)

Christ founded a Church (the Catholic Church), which is infallible. The Catholic Church wrote & compiled the New Testament Canon.

Protestants, who reject the infallibility of the Church, cannot therfore say that they know thier text is accurate and their canon is infalible. It it simple logic.
