God is a social construct, like money. Asking for "proof" that God exists is like asking for "proof" that money exists. It only exists to the extent that people accept that it does. Once people lose faith, God and money don't "exist" anymore. Both cash and the Bible become nothing more than a pile of old newspapers. The major differences are that people ascribe supernatural powers to God which they don't to money; and money serves a practical purpose that God does not.

the way I see it is if God does exist and when we die we end up living in eternal paradise surounded by the people we love in the presence of God, why put us on Earth in thefirst place? And I was raised Christian and went to Catholic school for 12 years; I can't say that there is or isn't a God, but the presence of any doubt is a direct antithesis of faith. @1timby I know that an ocean exists to have a floor and I know a universe exists that may or may not have an end. There is scientific evidence that prove there's an ocean and a universe. I do not however know that there is a heaven, hell, God or Satan, and that is because no scientific evidence exists to support any of them. Having faith that those things exist is beyond science and something that cannot really be proven (at least yet). You can't disprove faith where there is no doubt.

@1timby I know what Christianity is about, I spent enough time studying it. Many Christian sects encourage the conversion of others as personal responsibility to the Church. One's spreading "the good news" is another's fascism. The hospital/doctor analogy makes no sense. Being a patient doesn't make you a doctor: going to church on Sundays makes you a part of the Church whether you believe or no (why else would one go). It doesn't make you a priest, an analogy that would've been more accurate.

IF a person were to murder someone and then spend the rest of their life atoning, it wouldn't fulfill the law. Once arrested that person would be expect to pay for their transgression. The judge wouldn't say "Well you really a good guy so I'll let you free". Instead they would have to be punished.

And I was raised Christian and went to Catholic school for 12 years; I can't say that there is or isn't a God, but the presence of any doubt is a direct antithesis of faith. Having faith that those things exist is beyond science and something that cannot really be proven (at least yet). You can't disprove faith where there is no doubt.

@cigar420 I know God exists because I can see His handwork. Even though science has nothing but conjecture/hypothesizes/theories. Science hasn't proven anything, Take Newtonian Physics which breaks down on the sub atomic level. So where is the evidence from Science. Science has spent centuries trying to reverse engineer the universe without success. Yet you believe in theories/conjecture and not fact. Just because science has no proof, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

So you put your faith in something has proven to be wrong more times than not. Yet even though science can't prove God exists you want to believe He doesn't. So which of us is more gullible.

@cigar420 Science is trying to understand the unknowns of the universe yet you believe it exists. How does matter stay together? How did the universe come into play? If I could fathom all of Gods works then He wouldn't be much of a God/creator. Going to church on Sunday doesn't make one a Christian any more than going to a hospital makes me a doctor. It's the crucial things that makes the difference. Accepting Christ as savior, turning from sin, and faith.

@1timby I know what Christianity is about, I spent enough time studying it. Many Christian sects encourage the conversion of others as personal responsibility to the Church. One's spreading "the good news" is another's fascism. The hospital/doctor analogy makes no sense. Being a patient doesn't make you a doctor: going to church on Sundays makes you a part of the Church whether you believe or no (why else would one go). It doesn't make you a priest, an analogy that would've been more accurate.

@cigar420 You should do a little more studying. Especially what Christ says about religion. There is a big difference between a religion and Christianity. Catholicism, Baptist, Methodist, etc are religions. They can be observed without being Christian. One spreads the good news. It's up to the person to believe or not. So how is that fascism? Fascism is forced on it's people; Christianity isn't. A doctor tells you what to do to get well. It's up to you to decide whether to do it or not.

@EattherichBuddy Religion maybe forced on people. Christianity isn't. Never did Christ force anyone to accept him or God. When the wealthy man asked him what he must do. Christ gave him the answers. However, the man went away sad because he would do what Christ asked. However, he was never forced.
Every day there are those that do things in the name of religion. That doesn't make it right or acceptable to God.

@EattherichBuddy Christ was very adamant about religion. It has no place in Christianity. Many time Christ ridiculed the Sadducee and Pharisees. I wasn't forced to accept Christ. There is that little thing called free will. God afforded us that when he created us. Since He can't lie then we have the right to accept or deny Christ as well as God. As with all things we are then to face responsibility for our actions. Hope this clears things up.

Being a Christina means that you're saved. I work every day to be Christ like. However, I'm human and fall. However, the bible says you will know a Christian by their fruit. I try my best to not judge as that's way above my pay grade. I'll leave that up to God.

@EattherichBuddy Wow how to answer. God created all things and gave man dominion over the earth. Because of the fall dominion of the earth was given to Satan. Man's idea of good is suspect at best. God in his infinite mercy and grace gave man a way to come back into communion with Him. That was Jesus. Now we have a free gift to allow us to be once again to be God's heirs. God doesn't hate women, men, homosexuals, murderers, etc. He hates the sin. Jesus dies for all so that all could be saved.

@EattherichBuddy However, God allows us to have free will. The choice of following Jesus or not. Just like our judicial system. If we disobey the law of the land we are punished accordingly. IF a person were to murder someone and then spend the rest of their life atoning, it wouldn't fulfill the law. Once arrested that person would be expect to pay for their transgression. The judge wouldn't say "Well you really a good guy so I'll let you free". Instead they would have to be punished.

The people of those times lived differently and had different customs. I read and studied the bible for a long time and every time I get some additional info out of it. Love isn't a sin. Sin is sin. God love the whole world so much that he gave us Jesus. Whole World....Not just Jews.

There are words in the bible that stand for different things depending on context. Different versions where created based on the people of the time. Why would an Englishman translate the bible in German? What imaginary fruit?

The bible is a book to help those on the way to understanding what God wants for us. It's not for English majors to decide on where to put periods and commas.
