  • Mortal Monday - September 13th, 1993. You had to be there.

  • whats the song to this commerical?

  • hahahaha /watch?v=EocP7bJO5VU

  • hahahaha

  • The dude lifting his arms in the air looks retarded.

  • If I won the lotto I would open an arcade and divide it up like a library. This game would have pride of place in the fighting section.

  • Oh man, memories of going to the arcade with my older cousing and seeing the lines to play Mortal Kombat. Specifically MK2. Miss those days :'(

  • Jeans for women

  • Mortal Kombat commercials are always badass.

  • Mortal Kombat? That sounds more like what was going on across England the past few days! xD

  • I've been playing this game since i was old enough to reach the controls.

  • wow even the COMMERCIALS were better them days!

  • why were the 90s always orange

  • Comment removed

  • @818chamillitary Don't know about you but I was always high so maybe that's why.

  • @tasm19 lol so was I

  • Wow, I still thinking most old game ads are so cool!

  • Real Men play Mortal Kombat. 8-year old over-privileged kids who think their cool play Call of Duty. There like: I shot you I'm so cool n00b. But We're like: I ripped your F*cking head off!

  • @nicholascooney lol fuck yea!!

  • @nicholascooney: I completely agree with the "over-privileged kids" part. It's pretty ridiculous these days. I wish arcades never went out of style- it was great going to the local restaurant or store after school with half the neighborhood. Damn these places made so much money from the kids (actually their parents)

  • best 16 seconds of my life!!!!1

  • "MORTAL KOMBAT!!!"

  • BAM !!!

  • I swear the next time I'm with my friends im gonna put my arms up and scream mortal kombat at the top of my lungs

  • great commercial, great game.

    Dam I miss my childhood.

  • Someone should parody this, it feels so funny idk why

  • Imma start yelling "Mortal Kombat!" anywhere I feel it's necessary in homage to the new game.

  • Back when this came out, I was in middle school at the time and one day at school outside I screamed MORTAL KOMBAT with my arms up after I was talking about MK with a friend. lol

He looked at me like WTF are you smokin? haha

  • flylo sent me here

  • on April 19th, kombat begins again

  • Damn straight, everyone was running around in the streets the day that game came out. My throat still hurts from screaming MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAAAT!

  • Who in the world said, "Mortal Kombat?" It's so perfect! Give that dude a metal. Such a nice scream, great Kommercial.

  • If you were to do this in real life it would look retarded.

  • @AntiGrav82

    HAHAH HELL YEA

  • Does the commercial say, "Mortal Kombaaat, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it, get it!"

  • @robert779 Hah! Yeah, it kinda does sound like that. intentional or not, it worked!

  • Flawless my ass.

  • Oh god, my SNES fanboy ass caught so much shit from the sega fanboys over the the "sweat instead of blood" thing in 3rd grade...

  • And the award for the most overrated game ever goes to.....

  • @LMessi101 Your Mom.

  • @Cazxiro No she has nothing to do with MK being overrated - in fact your answer supports my opinion. MK was for people who were crap at Street Fighter

  • @LMessi101 lol. i was good at both games. they each had theyre +/-

so i guess your not all to thrilled about the street fighter X tekken game coming out?

  • @workinghoustonian Really? That sounds interesting - was a big Tekken fan back in the day. Tekken 2 was a real step up as was Soulblade (aka Souledge) when it first came out. When's it out? MK 3 was alright because it had a huge character roster but I just feel the moves are so basic and the hype hid the fact that it was pretty basic. Best part was it showed just how much weaker the Megadrive was compared to the SNES! looooooooool!

  • @trollingtheweb no! well a tiny bit

  • why is there a high frequency noise that only people of my age can here while this plays?

  • ahh the good times of video games

  • What Is This Music: It's Like MK Theme, But It's Obvoius That MK1 Came Out 4 Years BEFORE The Movie And The Theme Were Out, So How Come This Music Sounds Kind Of Like MK Theme But Not Quite ...

  • @Tadddius yee, i wanna listen to the full version of this ^^'

  • @Tadddius They did a cd for the game called "Mortal Kombat: The Album" long before the movie came out. The song during this commercial was made specifically for the commercial and isn't on any cd.

  • I wish i could go back in time and show them the Mortal Kombat we have now

  • history was made

  • I noticed the public conversation after I saw this amazing video and thought "Well sheesh, Where you from??"

  • Holy shit I remember this and I have forgotten it since I saw it in 93. OMG I remember it so clearly 1993, The forgotten year.

  • @Guitarisma Tell me about it. I remember it because it was also my first day of High School, and the premiere of Animaniacs.

  • I remember I couldnt play games like this & duke nukem when I was a kid . So I waited till my mom went to work & played them with my brother >:)

  • that was the most overrated fighting game everrr

    but still we love it.

  • I wasn't allowed to play Mortal Kombat as a kid, so instead I hung out at the arcade for hours watching other people play it!

  • the game that changed everything

  • not are preduction

  • I still think that this is the best MK commercial ever!!!

  • Mortal Kombat ruled my childhood. The sequels ruled my life.

  • And September 13, 1993 at the mere age of 2 I was introduced to Mortal kombat and have loved it ever since

  • How I love this series yet I can't play it..

  • damn cool !!! witcher year ist that commercial ???

    greets !

  • epic

  • I REMEMBER THIS AS A KID! it was awesome. the one for part two was the best mortal kombat commercial though.

  • @HaitainBoy352 ur gay

  • i remember Mortal Monday.... those were the days... i also remember when assholes wanted to pull the game off the shelves because it was considered "tooo violent"... theviolence in thsi game is Disney stuff, compared to bloody games of today.

  • @PeterBParker But you got to remember that this was the first Video Game ever to be rated T. So it was very violent at the time!

  • Somebody Has GOT to know the name of this song. I have been looking EVERYWHERE and I can't find it. Please Post here and I know it's on any of the soundtracks and it any of the popular tracks by the immortal (that I have heard of).

  • The MK Theme Song? Techno Syndrome by The Immortals

  • Down Syndrome at 0:05

  • i remember as a kid, reading in a game magazine that the kid yelling "mortal kombat" got paid alot of money just for yelling mortal kombat!

  • @kryptonian541 how much , do u still have that mag ??

  • @SexibabySiren this short version of this commercial was only 16 seconds but in the 30 second commercial he yelled "mortal combat" 3 times before what you see in this commercial and he got paid 20k just for yelling "mortal kombat" keep in mind,20k was alot of money back in the 90's & yes i still have the magazine till this day!

  • @kryptonian541 yea 20k was alot back then. what gaming mag was that ? thats pretty awesome that u still have that . damn i had to been like 8 or 9 when they came out with this commercial, it would been cool to be part of that memory, but i didnt live in NYC tho which sucks . i live 3 hrs away from there. how long was the article about that commercial?

  • @SexibabySiren the game magazine i have is"gamepro magazine"it was a 2 page article about how this was the first game to ever have blood, gore, ripping your apponents spine out etc...there was alot of controversy about this game back then because it was to violent,it was banned in europe and canada because it was to graphic. kinda makes you glad to live in the USA huh?! lol

  • @kryptonian541 hell yea :-) lol Mortal Kombat change everything and i love it , thnks to MK love fighting games

  • @SexibabySiren for real!

  • @kryptonian541 where u from

  • MORTAL KOMBAT!

  • i remember that commercial i should of get that game back when i was a kid the kids in my days luv that shit

  • on mortal monday september 13th 1993, I traded in streetfighter 2 complaining it was messed up just to get an exchange for this legendary game. To bad it took over 12 years for the arcade version to come out for the xbox 360

  • Would be both impressive and pointless for MK1 to have a 360 port in 1993.

  • i so disagree... actually, i wouldn't be surprised if there was already a dosbox port for 360 that would allow people to play mk on it

  • wow, i remember Mortal Monday. September 13, 1993. Seems like yesterday....

  • I feel you on that one man. Especially when they would play this during the Saturday morning cartoons. Good times. Sends chills down my spine. LOL!

  • @fanuvgod1 Damn has it been that long. WOW.

  • @fanuvgod1 i agree

  • @fanuvgod1 The day before my first birthday

  • Now I understand the MK Armageddon commercial, they were trying to go for a nostalgia thing I guess.

  • Haha. I went to the theater and saw the movie when I was a kid and right before the movie started I stood up and threw my hands in the air and yelled "Mortal Kombat" like in the commercial. It was funny to me and my friends but I think everyone else was like "wtf?".

  • That was the shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • While the sega genesis dominated the sales over the SNES of MK1, mainly due to the blood code, the commercial only used the SNES version

  • Damn Dude ya right....The only way i can tell is on the arcade Arcade-"raiden" SNES "rayden"...Arcade is spelt with a "I" but on SNES its with a "Y".....WOW...I'm a nerd!!!

  • That part I didnt notice. But if I remember correctly, the Genesis version had the character names outside of the health bars, while the SNES version had the character names inside of the bars. That and the SNES was closer to the graphic engine of the arcade version

  • Yeah it was pretty much the best Home conversion at the time, but No blood and the toned down Fatality's turned people away from it, also heard they played around with the Moves aswell.

  • This is information worth knowing. Not being a smart ass. You inspired me to make a Useless knowledge drinking game. Thank you.

  • Can't wait 'til this game comes out

  • Comment removed

  • I know, ha! And I can't wait until that year. This is currently 1989, right?

  • me either!

  • Comment removed

  • Exactly what made me want this game.

  • Oh My God! I remember this! The good Old '90's. Where did they go. Great memories from late 1993, back when the future didn't seem so far away.

Very nice job! Keep up the great work! Thanks for posting!

    A++++++++

Have a great night, a great day tommorrow, a great night tommorrow,a great week, a great month and a great summer! Puerto Rican Love from New York City!

    MORTAL KOMBAT!

  • MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!!

  • i have no ideia why,but 5 minutes after buying mortal combat i already knew the blood code...and still remember it:a,b,a,c,a,b,b....haha wierd

  • lol how can anybody forget that!

  • memories

  • All the 2D MK commercials are weird first there was this one where it was just some dude yelling "MORTAL KOMBAT" then there was some random characters appearing out of shadows and 3rd there was a dude with something coming out of his chest i mean, WTF!

  • So this is where the MORTAL KOMBAT voice came from The Immortal's Techno Syndrome song?

  • Don't forget that the MK4 Commercial had 4 of the Fighters holding/wielding Weapons

    Shinnok = Naginata

    Raiden = Hammer

    Scorpion = Sword

    Reptile = Battle Axe

I didn't see any Commercials for MK: DA, and I seldom remember seeing commercials for MK:D, when MK:A came out, all I saw were adds for it on the internet

  • Ahhh...the memories.

  • MORTAL MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kick ass!

  • I remember seeing this on tv when i was a kid!! bad ass.

  • bad ass

  • There was no Jade in the Genesis version. It was the Green Sonya in the pit, just like Reptile.

  • You weren't born for what??? even the 4th? OMG I still remember walking outta the scream 2 movie and playing that shit in the arcades.. Damn kids are lucky to have the internet now a days

  • yeah now you can download the ones they aren't making anymore and play them on your pc. and they're incredibly small files.

they're not selling them anyway, so it's not like they're losing anything. all of those old 8 & 16 (and sometimes 32) bit games are usually the coolest anyway

  • BEYOND

  • BEYOND!!!

  • The super nes version was better overall but the genesis version has the mystic of the blood code.

  • abacabb

  • Actually the Arcade was better because it had more blood than the Genesis and it came normally no code! plus it had better graphics than the SNES

  • i wasnt born when the first one or the second or the 3rd or 4th or gold.

  • so.... you have... 9?

  • ah, the commercial that started its supreme legacy

  • Got that right!

  • Now that's a fuckin' commercial!

  • it takes me back to the 90's Mortal Kombat rules!

  • Anyone know the name of the song?

  • Check out the American flag at 0:16. Made in U.S.A.

  • FUCKIN A'!

  • Oh my goodness, I still remember this!

  • MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*pause for breath*AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!

  • ahhh memories....

  • The memories!! As for the battle of which MK was better on which system. I'd say it was a draw. SNES had more fluidity in its game play, sound, and graphics, but Sega had the blood, better music and besides having reptile believe it or not it also had Jade. If you know how to get to reptile you'll know how to get to Jade, but she's only on the Sega Version.

  • lol the kids scream is so funny. I loved this game. best fighting game ever

  • I want this song, damn!

  • I remember that everyone would go crazy for this game when it came out. Street Fighter was huge but this game was just on another level. I rememeber my neighbor got this game and we were playing it in a room in his house and I lived near a ranch and these kids that were riding some horses in the street (lol) stopped and were looking inside from on there horses watching us play. I felt so lucky that my neighbor had it and I could play pretty much whenever :)

  • Notice how all the screen shots were from the SNES version (because the Genesis version sucks)

  • WRONG! SNES Version sucks because it doesn't have any blood.

  • It also had better graphics, sound, and controls. SNES wins

  • The Sega was better by far it had fatalities and all snes version was mostly censored.

  • snes version also slower and the music in the Genesis version was much better.

  • The genesis music sucks.

  • Genesis does what Nintendon't!

  • And now Sega does nothing because they lost the console wars.

  • man i can't wait untill this game comes out, lol.

  • Is this where the MORTAL KOMBAT!!! scream came from,i know its in the song but was it sampled from this?

  • Yes.

  • this is the snes mortal kombat.

  • Haha, I use to pretend I was sick so I could stay home and play for hours nonstop. That's right mom and dad, I LIED! HAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

  • Wow,

ahah i remember the good old times forming long lines to play mortal kombat

    aahhhhh

    good old times

  • Mortal Kombat>Soul Calibur

  • I remember this being a little kid and mom all like I'll never get this game, and my dad came home from work and bought it for me and I hid it.ahhh memories

  • MORTAAAAAAAAAAAL KOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!

    Choose your destiny!

Man I never saw this comercial, what good old days!!!

  • BETTAR THAN SESAME STREET FIGHTER II

  • At least be grateful. Witthout SF, we wouldn't have MK.

  • Only because Midway wanted to be better than Street Fighter, which Midway monkey stomped Street Fighter

  • I remmeber when I first saw this I was like WTF? Hey, remember when people back then said this was "too graphic"? If they could see it now....

  • i remember this commerical

  • I totally remember this commercial. Couldn't wait to get that game. This and the Ocarina of Time commercial are probably the biggest game commercials that actually got me hyped for a game. Game commercials now are very lackluster... even Super Mario Bros. 3 had an awesome commercial, the Fred Savage movie "classic", The Wizard ;)

  • Did you see it on Fox Kids and The Disney Afternoon?
