Why, if the building collapsed and broke itself into many pieces,

did the outer frame of the building remain standing at the base??

Why did the top of the building turn to dust,yet the base framework was left standing, undamaged (of sorts) even though the entire weight of the building was resting on it?

(well the top section turned to instant dust, so no weight as such)

@clubtv12 I couldn't agree more. Those two larger than life towers were the ultimate icon of NYC and made the skyline of Lower Manhattan look complete. Also, I heard on MSNBC that it would cost much less to rebuild the Twin Towers than to construct the "Freedom Tower" which is not as impressive as the two World Trade Towers were.
