Hello, I have an important question about psychology and specifically the therapist-client relationship, I guess it could be the same for psychiatry too. These drugs ruin peoples lives. I've been on them for a long time and they've ruined my life making me into a mindless zombie. I got severe liver problems together with dry eyes. My whole brain was dumbed down. I had to find alternative care to regulate the side effects. The biggest problem is that it is so easy to be stuck in the system.
I would like to see psychiatry removed from health care. It's pure evil.
Next I was on a med that made me gain 40 pounds. However: how can you say that someone who hears voices or someone like Jeffery Dahmer who eats human flesh is not sick? They obviously have something mentally wrong. Any ideas/comments?
I agree with these docs for the most part. People are overmedicated and psychiatric drugs can often cause more harm than good. For example, I was sick for a very long time with a physical illness. I felt bad all the time so I became depressed. The first thing that happened was my doctor put me on an antidepressant. I attempted suicide soon after. Once that happened, it was established that I must be REALLY SICK.

Search for Kalinka Bamberski, a French girl. She was drugged and murdered by her German stepfather. He was cleared in German court. Later he again drugged a girl in the same way, raped her and got away with probation in the German court. After 2 decades Kalinkas father had the guy kidnapped and brought to France. It is just not like her to keep her cellphone off this long a time so I am wondering if she was committed? And are cellphones prohibited when you are committed, whether you committed yourself or someone committed you?
The thing is though she has a family who would get very worried if they could not get a hold of her. I called her cellphone immediately after she sent me that text and her cell was off and has been ever since. Her home phone just rings 3 or 4 times and goes to voicemail. I don't personally know anyone who knows her so it's not like I can ask anyone.
The reason I am asking is because a friend of mine who is going through some difficult times and was just fired from her job this past week has her cellphone turned off. I talked to her on Thursday night and she seemed fine and then Friday around 5:30 I sent her a text asking how her day was and at around 6 she sent me a text back saying "I'm ok. But am going to be gone for a week or so. Will call you when I get back. I'm fine."
Hi I have a question regarding a person getting committed to a mental health institution. When a person gets committed either voluntarily or involuntarily, whether they commit themselves or they don't are they allowed to use their cellphones while they are at the hospital or do they have to leave them off?
My psychiatrist didn't even use drugs to help me get good grades and have a social life. Fuck you. Though there have been cases of medical institutions and drugs, but not the 100% of psychiatrists are like that, you just need to find the right one. Where is the world going with people like you?

These people were the only left I had to believe in my life. I thought they would really help me, and I have gone through years and years of BS, and all they have done is give me excuses. I was heavily drugged by anti-psychotics at 14 years old, while I had no psychosis, only severe anxiety/depression at the time, I was given alot of meds, and they dont work. With my love one I have seen absolutely no improvement and he's seeing psychiatrists who are the best. An obvious "side effect" is the huge weight gain. It's sad. The common weight gain "side effect" proves that psychiatry's drugs are damaging. Others get tardive dyskinesia, and the Haldol shuffle. So, no mental improvement and damage to health is a commonly heard complaint. I am not a Scientologist and Scientology is not the issue. It's a red herring.

@laserofjustice IMHO Hubbard was imaginative, to put it softly, and I don't agree with scientology. However, my ad hom statement was in response to the anti-psychiatry = scientology argument. It seems there's an ad hominem element to this discussion wherein if one is anti-psychiatry that one is assumed to be pro-scientology. I'm inclined to listen to the arguments and pay less attention to the credentials. So far, for me, the anti-psychiatry arguments seem more valid.

The field of psychiatry and psychology is ever evolving, new discoveries and better medicines created with less side effects. Cognitive behavioral therapy has proven to be an excellent non-drug therapy.

I have yet to find a single incorrect comment made on their website or in any of their videos. And it's really not even part of scientology to dismiss psychiatry anyway, it's just a common belief held by many of it's followers. I think that protecting people [through education and govt/legal action] from the dangers of psychiatry is help enough. Honestly, your best bet with mental issues is to eat a healthy diet, socialize often and persist. That's it.

There are many conditions such as schizophrenia that require medication- or the person suffering this horrible condition would be totally incapable of surviving. I have seen familly members and friends both off and on their meds for schizophrenia.

Psychiatric medications are killing people. That's a fact. They can potentially alter your mind and make you behave like a rabid animal. I know that from experience. @slee331 The same happened to me, not exactly the same story, but I was different too. I was given psychiatric medicines that made me act in a negative way and do things that I NEVER would have normally allowed myself to do. If something would bother me on an average day, I would confront it calmly like a normal person and that would be the end of it. If something would bother me on my meds, I'd go apeshit crazy. Psychiatric drugs actually landed me in a mental hospital. Go figure.

I overheard a local psychiatrist telling a young medical student that he could earn about $250,000 alone or he could set up an office with other doctors and then earn about $400,000. The conversation was about money, it was loud, and it was at lunchtime in public. It was unfeeling and obnoxious. @laserofjustice Hi. I was given antipsychotics for Body dysmorphic disorder, and SSRI antidepressants for depression. That's the reason I got involved with psychiatry because of those two illnesses. He didn't care, why? because he's a professional he didn't seem to care, because he didn't attempt to help me in any way when I was very suicidal in one appointment. I believe that at least people should have ''informed consent' aboutantipsychotics & limited to people who have severeillnesses only.
Obviously, everything is not a mental disorder and there are many variations of the brain. But the fact is there are some real legitimate mental disorders that we need psychiatrists for. Not all psychiatrists take the DSM to heart, just the bad ones. There's so much more to psychiatry than just behavior and mood.

Kind of sad. I type "psychiatry" in you tube's search engine and this is one of the first videos that shows up. Funny how that's not true with physics or chemistry. I don't see any videos criticizing either of those fields. It's a good "smell test" for psychiatry advocates. The truth is waiting for you. @picassoui I have a bad (false positive) experience with psychiatry but I don't believe it's totally bogus. Even if it's not technically the right thing at least if the description of the disorder is mostly the same as you experience. Then they can name it and try to do something about it. The same with medication, they are not wonder medicine but they can take away the sharp edges. I'm not a doctor but in your case anti psychotics could help.

My psychiatrist basically told me everything that was in this video, he actually took me off the meds my family doctor put me on, so not every psychiatrist is bad the one I had didn't believe in medicating 'depressed' people. He was older though it is probably younger ones who buy into this medications and bullshit.

DSM is the same as ICD-10 - we use codes so the WHO can supply statistical data for every illness When one diagnoses a patient, one does not rely on one simple test, doctors look at a series of symptoms e.g., weight loss, pain, fever, however in depression, anxiety, OCD we have to look at behaviour for that diagnosis – hand washing 1000 times a day would suggest someone has OCD. The problem is 'lay people' thinking they understand everything, when in fact they know v little.
DSM-IV-TR is diagnostic, "peeing the bed", well children who have been subjected to sexual abuse wet the bed. I'm a doctor training in psychiatry, my dad has schizophrenia, severe recurrent depression/anxiety, he was sectioned for 2yrs in the late 1980's after taking an overdose, which put him in intensive care for 1 month. Yes he still hears voices, but then he has tried many times to stop his medication(s), yet the voices become so bad it’s terrible to watch.
@drtobeTony84 It is not diagnostic - it is basically deciding upon if a behaviour in YOUR terms is an "illness". But its not. Bad behaviour doesn't mean someone is "ill". Personally I chose to believe that there are indeed chemical imbalances within the brain. I understand that all symptoms are generalized by a committee of psychiatrists and I don't want to be brainwashed into thinking that medicine is the only answer. I'm going to go to college and thereafter medical school for two things: psychology as my prerequisite and psychiatry as the doctorate. I'm doing this because I want to be able to help people with two things I really think work.
Why do I think they work? I've been a victim of OCD, major depression, and generalized anxiety as they would call it. It's not how I feel that sets me off, it's because of my OCD. I do such irrational things that, to me, can only be explained by a mental illness. Again, I want to help people and this is my calling on life. I'm going to do psychology and psychiatry because I personally like to think that both are beneficial.

These drugs ruin peoples lives. I've been on them for a long time and they've ruined my life making me into a mindless zombie. I got severe liver problems together with dry eyes. My whole brain was dumbed down. I had to find alternative care to regulate the side effects. The biggest problem is that it is so easy to be stuck in the system.

I agree with these docs for the most part. People are overmedicated and psychiatric drugs can often cause more harm than good. For example, I was sick for a very long time with a physical illness. I felt bad all the time so I became depressed. The first thing that happened was my doctor put me on an antidepressant. I attempted suicide soon after. Once that happened, it was established that I must be REALLY SICK.

The thing is though she has a family who would get very worried if they could not get a hold of her. I called her cellphone immediately after she sent me that text and her cell was off and has been ever since. Her home phone just rings 3 or 4 times and goes to voicemail. I don't personally know anyone who knows her so it's not like I can ask anyone.

The reason I am asking is because a friend of mine who is going through some difficult times and was just fired from her job this past week has her cellphone turned off. I talked to her on Thursday night and she seemed fine and then Friday around 5:30 I sent her a text asking how her day was and at around 6 she sent me a text back saying "I'm ok. But am going to be gone for a week or so. Will call you when I get back. I'm fine."

These people were the only left I had to believe in my life. I thought they would really help me, and I have gone through years and years of BS, and all they have done is give me excuses. I was heavily drugged by anti-psychotics at 14 years old, while I had no psychosis, only severe anxiety/depression at the time, I was given alot of meds, and they dont work. With my love one I have seen absolutely no improvement and he's seeing psychiatrists who are the best. An obvious "side effect" is the huge weight gain. It's sad. The common weight gain "side effect" proves that psychiatry's drugs are damaging. Others get tardive dyskinesia, and the Haldol shuffle. So, no mental improvement and damage to health is a commonly heard complaint. I am not a Scientologist and Scientology is not the issue. It's a red herring.

Hubbard became enraged when his pseudo-therapy "dianetics" got panned by the scientific community, he then invented "scientology" calling it a church and started fighting psychiatry.

I was given psychiatric medicines that made me act in a negative way and do things that I NEVER would have normally allowed myself to do. If something would bother me on an average day, I would confront it calmly like a normal person and that would be the end of it. If something would bother me on my meds, I'd go apeshit crazy. Psychiatric drugs actually landed me in a mental hospital. Go figure.

The drugs they give totally make the problem worse. I overheard a local psychiatrist telling a young medical student that he could earn about $250,000 alone or he could set up an office with other doctors and then earn about $400,000. The conversation was about money, it was loud, and it was at lunchtime in public. It was unfeeling and obnoxious. 2. I was patronized, stigmatized and treated like a statistic.
3. my psychiatrist sat there when I was suicidal and didn't care because he was a 'professional'.

@laserofjustice Hi. I was given antipsychotics for Body dysmorphic disorder, and SSRI antidepressants for depression. That's the reason I got involved with psychiatry because of those two illnesses. He didn't care, why? because he's a professional he didn't seem to care, because he didn't attempt to help me in any way when I was very suicidal in one appointment. I believe that at least people should have ''informed consent' aboutantipsychotics & limited to people who have severeillnesses only.

Obviously, everything is not a mental disorder and there are many variations of the brain. But the fact is there are some real legitimate mental disorders that we need psychiatrists for. @picassoui I have a bad (false positive) experience with psychiatry but I don't believe it's totally bogus. Even if it's not technically the right thing at least if the description of the disorder is mostly the same as you experience. Then they can name it and try to do something about it. The same with medication, they are not wonder medicine but they can take away the sharp edges. I'm not a doctor but in your case anti psychotics could help.

DSM is the same as ICD-10 - we use codes so the WHO can supply statistical data for every illness When one diagnoses a patient, one does not rely on one simple test, doctors look at a series of symptoms e.g., weight loss, pain, fever, however in depression, anxiety, OCD we have to look at behaviour for that diagnosis – hand washing 1000 times a day would suggest someone has OCD. The problem is 'lay people' thinking they understand everything, when in fact they know v little.

DSM-IV-TR is diagnostic, "peeing the bed", well children who have been subjected to sexual abuse wet the bed. I'm a doctor training in psychiatry, my dad has schizophrenia, severe recurrent depression/anxiety, he was sectioned for 2yrs in the late 1980's after taking an overdose, which put him in intensive care for 1 month. Yes he still hears voices, but then he has tried many times to stop his medication(s), yet the voices become so bad it’s terrible to watch.

I suggest you go ask somebody that you are sure was diagnosed with a mental illness,bipolar,depression,paranoid,whatever they are taking medication for, and ask them if the psychiatrist ran blood tests, conducted the physical exams,and took MRI's on them BEFORE diagnosing and prescribing! You know what? They will all tell you they were given NO SUCH TESTS! @jebus0000000 psyciatrists complete the same training as medical doctors but just specialise in mental health. In that sense, a psyciatrist is a doctor, who specialises in mental health.
A psyciatrist, having, as said, completed the training necessary to become a medical doctor, could literally quit their job and take up a post as an ordinary GP.
In this sense, their work is more advanced than a normal doctor.

Personally I chose to believe that there are indeed chemical imbalances within the brain. I understand that all symptoms are generalized by a committee of psychiatrists and I don't want to be brainwashed into thinking that medicine is the only answer. I'm going to go to college and thereafter medical school for two things: psychology as my prerequisite and psychiatry as the doctorate. I'm doing this because I want to be able to help people with two things I really think work.

Why do I think they work? I've been a victim of OCD, major depression, and generalized anxiety as they would call it. It's not how I feel that sets me off, it's because of my OCD. I do such irrational things that, to me, can only be explained by a mental illness. Again, I want to help people and this is my calling on life. so does traditional medicine. it attempts to eliminate any disease. why? because it's considered not as good as someone with out a disease. or like a cochlea implant to help a deaf person because deaf people are not good enough.

yeah well there taking normal children, deemed *hyperactive* "even though little kids are naturally full of energy" and shoving pills down there throats for something that is completely natural. This is our society today, and then when they have negative side effects to that drug, they put them on another drug to curb those side effects, and so on. it really fucks people up.

Just thinking about these rabid, ravenous, appalling, seething entities called "Clinically Normative Mental Health Professionals" is like lifting the lid off a pan of stew left on the stove top for 3 weeks and gasping from the nauseating stench of the fatal botulism poison within. Fort Hood killer has psych degree how come it didn't immunize him from "homicide disorder?" Congress must STOP them from being able to slap labels on people---like they tried to do to Arizona Senator Goldwater!!!!!!!

autoanyliziation is never possible without bias. perhaps he did not see himselff as "homocidal." and psychiatrists are not the only ones to skap a label on people. this is eveident of the comment you made on psychiatrists

Surprised but pleased to see J Whitaker & his remarks. But here's how things actually are---unseen beings--demons--are real--and they function aggressively through psychiatrists & Big Pharma to do what they enjoy---HURTING people. Unitarian Church, Unity Church & major newspapers & media are on board backing up psych mythology. But the demons are real and psychiatrists are teeming with them. "Cruelty is the first attribute of the devil" said 19th century publisher, and psychs are damn cruel.

Thats the reason Psychiatry is the least wanted specialty among medical students in USA. It has a stigma attcahed to it, and its mostly fraud. Waste of a medical degree. The worst specialty.
