what engine fits in my 88 740 besides the 2.3 iv seen some with ford 5.0 but does it fit in direct or do i have to change trannies or weld engine mounts?????????????pls help

i bought a conversion kit(converse enginerring) for my 88 740 from USA, and installed a mustang 5.0 liter,t5 transmission, not to much work, a good 100 hours..the original volvo radiator is too small(which i learned in a very hard way), some say to use a 760 or a diesel rad, but those are also way to small.

a quick google and you'll see that a number of different engines were successfully transplanted, some easier than others. possible due to the fact that the 240's bay is massive (i should know from owning one, lol).

i might listen like a volvo B engine, but it is a V8 you can hear that, btw B engine has 5 cylinders

240's never came with 5 cyl b series engines. in fact, neither did the 740. volvo put their 5 cylinders in the 850's and up.

This is V8 power!! this is not a tuned volvo engine.. But a real American V8 engine.. This is not a volvo engine..
