  • ice is down

  • construction is almost complete. We will be making ice soon.

  • New york Knicks- 2010-2011 NBA champions!!!!!!!! Amare, Chauncey& Carmelo!!!!!!!!

    NBA Finals 2011 Knicks-4 Lakers-1

  • @nightmarebeforeXmas8 yup...... so i heard the knicks got their ass kicked by the celtics

  • @igotnhl08 i admit i got carried away.

  • Rangers suck

  • I've been to New York many times but not to MSG one of these day's I'd love to go to a Rangers game

  • MSG actually removes each piece of ice, it's in a square form, it's alreadly painted & stored in ice lockers that they roll around to keep the ice from melting. There is a time lapse video that shows how they do it.

  • @TA1199 Look at 0:10. They are clearly removing black painted plywood from the ice surface. You can see them stacking the plywood!

  • Every arena is diffrent I remember when MSG used to cover the ice, now quite a few arenas remove the ice altogether. The Phillps arena in Atlanta still covers the ice during Hockey season.

  • @TA1199 there's over 40 thousand gallons of water in there, plus paint, and you have to make it millimeter by millimeter, there's no time to make new ice and it would be expensive. And the ground is -10 degrees, which keeps the ice solid. I'm pretty sure they still cover all ice

  • And they do that every time a home hockey game or basketball game occurs? That has to be expensive.

  • @RainbowManification No, they don't. They only do the hockey rink once. When something else takes place, large slabs of plywood are brought in to cover the ice, and they are then covered with a thick rubber. The basketball court (or whatever else has to be built) is then built on top of it; the extra seats are then slid out, and any additional seating is then put in place as well. When the event is finished, the seats are slid back in, everything is removed, and the hockey boards go back up.

  • @347qwerty I've always wondered, why do all the other arenas keep their hockey boards up, even after the season, and through the summer. I'll be honest with you, every event feels like it's in a hockey rink.

  • @StanBennet Well, most of the time, it simply isn't worth the work. Hockey boards are very heavy and a pain in the ass to reinstall. So most arenas just keep the hockey boards up so they don't have to deal with the backbreaking work of moving them around, lifting them, bolting them in place, etc.

  • @347qwerty - One guy a side lifting the boards onto a skid is no problem. Bolting them is also easy with an airgun. I find the glass the biggest pain if it's tempered. However if there are stanchions all the way around, it makes it so much easier then dropping them inside the boards.

  • @RainbowManification there's 41 home basketball games, 41 home hockey games, plus a hundred or more other events. They do this all the time. here and many many other arenas. really no big deal.

  • oh yea eh~
