during that time a lot of cambodian came to Thailand to kid nap thousand of people along the border to do farm and taken care of they kid while they are fighting some got rape so, they can increase they polulation. sad . Many came back after the war had ended and still alive today along Thailand border. But many can't go back to live in they own land any more because many community have been taken over by cambodian because they can't go back.

@TaoLaothienDia Pol Pot wanted to be Maoist but he interpreted communism absolutely wrong. At no time during Mao's leadership did he command all Chinese people to leave the cities and start farming. Instead, Mao wanted to direct more decisionmaking processes to the rural farmers - to give these farmers a say in the government. Mao did this to reduce the Chinese peasant class, and increase education and literacy so that China may become industrialized, and not agrarianized like Cambodia.

In total, the CIA gave a hundred million dollars to Pol Pot, in the period of several months. This was because the USA needed a puppet regime in Indochina, especially as Laos and Vietnam broke away from French Imperial control.
By supporting Pol Pot, the USA hoped to deter the central communist movement in Asia, namely by deterring Vietnam.
Vietnam stopped the genocide.
