So does the stock transmission from these Mk2s just go on the 2Jz with no problem? the W58 transmissions? I have an '85 Supra that I would like to drop a turbo-charged 2Jz on.
@KoRnKnoTTeR you will need the bellhousing, but the tranny I used is the one from a mk4 supra, with the extension housing changed to that from a mk3 supra so I can use the mk2 transmission cross member
yeah i know what you mean about having too much power in these cars, the brakes and handling just cant keep up with the speed lol, i have a rough time driving mine sometimes and its only a 7mgte swap with a few mods. however, it's still a blast :)
lol, going from 88kw to 169kw is enough of an improvement for me, it's a 1985 which isn't wasn't really designed to go real fast, so why make it so? you just end up with a car which is nothing like the original, I wanted to just improve on what was already an awesome car.
The turbo version was a grand more, and I have spent $15,000 on this car in parts and restoration...so another $1000 for the turbo I could have easily paid for, that said however, wasn't interested :)
does the 2jzge fit right into the body?..with all the mounts?...im really looking forward in doing MK2 2jz-gte....i think that it will be a lighter body for the 2jz-gte...but awesome vid man..
I got the engine mounts from bonnieville automotive in Australia, they come pre made, u bolt them onto the 2JZ, and then the 5M mounts bolt onto those.
why automatic?
