I have Aspergers Syndrom, in Heavy Form. They discovered it when I was 7, because I had social problems, and was obsessed with watching fire. They trained me for another 7 years, and you almost don't notice anything of it. I like computers, but not obsessed. I am doing better with social interactions. So people: please don't see us as totally, social broken, helpless people. The most of us, are very good to train and, sometimes, you don't even notice the Syndrome. Just give us a chance.

I'm quite sure you have AS. I would suggest doing a search for Paul Cooijmans 'GAIA' test, and doing that test. It is free and assesses the degree to which someone has AS, as it has identified many of the definitively AS characteristics.
My brother has Asperger's Syndrome too. He is a nice guy and a fantastic artist. People need to understand that it varies a lot depending on the person. Heck, I myself may have it.

I just wanna express one feeling, normal people are all alike, don't ever ever listen to them, they just repeat like sheep, i would like to see more confidence in you guys, ''normal'' people are teasing and make apserger and alike into some inferior labels so they can feel superior whilst they are not...i had mild apserger till 2-3 years ago, i grew over 90 percent of ''bad'' ''symptoms'', by just accepting myself equal as everyone else and vice versa.
I think when you focus on your trains, it's like meditation and it relaxes you because you don't think of anything that upsets you. Hence, it's a good thing to focus on one thing for a long time and concentration is a good mind exercise. Pick other area's to focus on just to practice focusing on a new thing.

Back in 1986 I went to Calif. to visit my Sister and that is when I really got into my passion for Trains. my sister lived about 3 blocks from the RR Tracks and every time we heard the horn we ran to the tracks. we even used to hop the ones that were going real slow and hopped off when I gained enough speed. anyhow! This can be a devastating to one's life. I encourage people to educate the public on this. I too suffer from moderate Aspergers with symptoms severely impacting my ability to socialize with others.. I was constantly bullied and picked on up into my early 20s. To this day knowing how to make friends and conversate are my biggest challenges. Having a girlfriend has eluded me my whole life. Happiness has eluded me my whole life. Thanks for your video and many others on educating others.

@RB902050 Good luck to you my friend. I don't know what I have, but I talk or rather I "speak" to myself compulsively. I do it pretty quietly but sometimes people notice. I usually try to pass it off as singing or make it look like I was just trying to help myself think out loud. After watching videos I know It's not Aspergers or High-Functioning Autism. Maybe some type of Tourettes. It happens worst when I'm stressed out or thinking of something embarrassing that happened or I almost said.

I'm quite sure you have AS. I would suggest doing a search for Paul Cooijmans 'GAIA' test, and doing that test. It is free and assesses the degree to which someone has AS, as it has identified many of the definitively AS characteristics.

I am not saying you don't have Asperger's I am saying that it is not probable that these symptoms are Asperger's and I have seen this before. You just need language therapy & I don't think you have a hard time understanding words because you clearly have a hearing issue not an understanding words issue because you understand words that are written. This is also not necessarily anything to do with Aspergers

I just wanna express one feeling, normal people are all alike, don't ever ever listen to them, they just repeat like sheep, i would like to see more confidence in you guys, ''normal'' people are teasing and make apserger and alike into some inferior labels so they can feel superior whilst they are not...i had mild apserger till 2-3 years ago, i grew over 90 percent of ''bad'' ''symptoms'', by just accepting myself equal as everyone else and vice versa.

I think when you focus on your trains, it's like meditation and it relaxes you because you don't think of anything that upsets you. Hence, it's a good thing to focus on one thing for a long time and concentration is a good mind exercise. Pick other area's to focus on just to practice focusing on a new thing.

Ha Ha! I'm Obsessed with trains too. I'm obsessed with a lot of things. I see rhythm in peoples faces, (which creeps me out sometimes) and in telephone poles and stuff when I drive past them. I take everyone seriously all the time and I'm always a little late picking up on joking around and stuff. But how can I be "in the moment" when I've got such an amazing perspective on everything around me all the time. Its all a big systemic pattern to me. Beautiful. I wouldn't change it if I could.

Just thank yourself good sir that you didn't grow up with the same emotionally confused family that I had to deal with. It made things a literal Hell. I'll never be able to forget about ever. I've forgiven my mother and father but, sadly there's still a little resentment in the back of my heart. They're good people but, they didn't know how to accept themselves let alone a kid with Asperger's. Say what you will about the Catholic Church. But, it kept me from killing myself in those dark days!
