I chose to buy an old x51v instead of a more powerful WinCE 6.5 PNA device, as they can be difficult to install TomTom on etc, due to the operating system being a cut down or different version to the full WM6.4 PDA versions.

I have just bought a x51v + GPS but I place the GPS on the dash right against the windscreen glass, for the best possible reception. Many car windscreens have sun ray filters inside the glass, which makes it much harder for GPS signals to penetrate and I would imagine decreases battery life as a result.
Oh and I am a right handed person, so I have the PDA to the right of my steering wheel and nearer to eye level as I am a 6ft 2in guy :-D
