  • @crowley0312 im black and I think floyd is a cocky bitch who's scared of paq.. P.s. I hope paq beats his ass if they ever do fight

  • CLASS

  • Good sports.

  • Turpin tribute page on facebook.

  • Both of these great fighters ended up bankrupt and with huge personal demons in there lives. Sugar ray would beat on his wife and Turpin shot his daughter then shot himself. Tragic, neverthless both were great men. I think they just took too many punches.

  • they speak very well...both gentlemen

  • These guys are boring I wouldnt pay to see them keep kissing each others asses.

Muhammed Ali and Floyd Mayweather talked alotta shit. AND I LOVED IT. Give me the "TUFFTALKING" guy who can back it up and I'll fork over ppv dollars everytime.

  • @MrTUFFTALK Have you seen the return fight? It was as vicious fight, it just made me think alot of the fighters that talk shit just run around the ring. But alot of more gracious and humble fighters like Sugar Ray, Pacquiao, Tua stand ground and trade. Oh well - to each his own.

  • @MantisAtlantis Sugar Ray (Robinson) committed suicide, Pacquiao is a drug addict and TUA Who? Muhammed Ali IS A LEGEND and MAYWEATHER IS the biggest draw in the history of boxing for a reason.

STOP BEING IN DENIAL. PEOPLE LOVE A BADASS

  • @MrTUFFTALK

Sugar Ray never committed suicide. Randy Turpin did. What're you on about?

  • @truebeliever786 That's who hes on about... Randy turpin...

  • @HellsHighwayTrooper

    Look, he said:

    "...Sugar Ray (Robinson) committed suicide..."

    His words are very clear...

  • @truebeliever786 Who are you on about though? this video? i don't know who you are referring to. Because i know sugar died of alziehmers i believe.

  • @HellsHighwayTrooper

I am referring to MrTUFFTALK, the guy I was replying to.

  • @truebeliever786 Ok then

  • Comment removed

  • @MantisAtlantis There is nothing glorious about standing ground and trading shots. The whole point of the sport is to hit and not be hit. I bet if you knew that 90% of boxers get permanent brain damage when they retire, you would reconsider what is actually cool. Oh well - to each his own. Great videos, btw.

  • @MrTUFFTALK Your a dipshit. Bro...

  • @MrTUFFTALK Yeah Ali was the only 1 who could trash talk though , He invented it but was just as exciting in the ring , Mayweather is a great defensive boxer but so boring to watch fight , This was 1940 ffs and Turpin Robinson , La Motta , Armstrong , Gavlin , BoBo Olson , Moore , Jersey Joe , Maxim , Joe Louis , Marciano , Dempsey man the list is endless , all these names faught wars month in month out , Sometimes week in week out , Not once a year like these faggots today !!!

  • @MrTUFFTALK You may think Ray Robinson was boring but he would have beaten the shit out of Mayweather and done it with complete ease. Mayweather's trash talk would only have gotten him a bigger beating.

  • @dovestones @Oddjob1177 Listen dummy. Sugar Ray Robinson had 19 FUCKIN LOSSES. OK! and he had 6 draws. That is a total of 25 fights that he could not or did not win. That is almost more Losses/draws than Mayweather has Knockouts. I wish people would stop saying this dude who had his ASS handed to him almost 20 times is the greatest ever!

Floyd Mayweather said HIMSELF that he is the Greatest Ever and he is recongnized among boxing experts as the greatest technical boxer ever.

  • @MrTUFFTALK Of course Robinson suffered losses. He fought 200 professional fights!! Considering he only lost 19 of those, that is incredible. And remember that when he initially retired in '52 he was 131-3. That incidentially was after he challenged for the light Heavyweight title. This from a guy who started at Light Welterweight. Imagine Pac Man or Mayweather fighting Hopkins or Haye. You can't it is impossible.

A boxer is only as good as the opponents he fights and the opponents he beats.

  • @MrTUFFTALK Mayweather would get the beating of his fucking life! Are fucking serious? Yes, Mayweather said "HIMSELF" that he is the greatest, not too many believe that shit. Mayweather is probably the best technically sound defensive fighters ever, but if were talking about over all attributes, SRR is on the top of the fucking list! Hands down!

  • @MrTUFFTALK You basicly admit you fall for the villian who talks shit for ppv money trick (Aimed at Mayweather not Ali).

  • @crowley0312 Actually I dont consider Mayweather a villan. He is a HERO. He is EXACTLY the kind fighter Muhhamed Ali was to his generation. Muhammed Ali was HATED by whites in the 60's but blacks loved him.

I am not making it a race thing but it is the truth. I dont hear too many Asian, Whtie or Hispanic fans praising mayweahter but us blacks love him. Even Victor Ortiz said he was going to win for "mexicans" and made it racial. Then Mayweather knocked his dumb ass out. HERO in my book

  • @MrTUFFTALK Well he is a villian. Being the 'villian' is a shortcut to fame. Did he not beat his girlfriend and threaten their kids if they said anything? Is that your hero? I can't see Floyd doing activist deeds like Ali someday.

You're pretty much admitting you like Mayweather because he's black. You're right, Ortiz is a dumbass. But Floyd's two cheap shots are something the 'hero' wouldn't do. Floyd is more interested in money and keeping the 0 losses than what people think.

  • @crowley0312 Please research about floyd before you ask questions. Yes floyd was ARRESTED for beating his Ex-girlfriend BUT this is the same girlfriend who pressed charges against him last time and she ended up getting caught in a lie and dropped the charges. Also she was convicted of perjury because of the lie she told

yes i do like floyd because he is black AMERICAN. not african, not haitian but a black AMERICAN. Just like filipinoes like flilipino boxers like paciao. What wrong with that?

  • @crowley0312 UPDATE!!! The security guards who charged floyd mayweather with assault and harrrasment had their case THROWN OUT!!! Google it. It was all fake charges they were making to get money from floyd.

The AP is reporting this. See this is why floyd is a hero. He stands up to assholes who Lie (Security Guards) and cheat (Manny Pacquiao streriods user)

  • @MrTUFFTALK I'd bet my life that Floyd paid them off. Same with his girl. Why do people keep making charges against him and droping them for no reason?

I wasn't going to respond because there's no point in arguing with a Mayweather fan who admits he likes him because he's black, but then you had to go and bring up Pacman. How does he 'stand up' to Manny by running from him? Second, just because Floyd's stupid uncle says someone with a 100% clean record is on steroids, doesn't mean he is. Simple

  • @crowley0312 ok i will say this to u one more time. I DONT LIKE FLOYD BECAUSE HE IS BLACK I LIKE FLOYD BECAUSE HE IS A BLACK AMERICAN. Black people arent ONLY american. Andre Berto is haitian, Joshua Clottey is from African, Lennox Lewis is British. I dont like ANY of those boxers

They are black too. So stop using RACE as a excuse. Now filipinoes are the same they like pac because he is FILIPINO (not just because he is asian). Also you sound like a idiot saying floyd is paying people off

  • @MrTUFFTALK Ok, you like Floyd because he's African-American. But is that really a good reason? Keep in mind the philippines is a third world country. They have a corrupt government, widespread poverty and lots of economic problems. Yet, Manny is a sentor, an actor and the p4p #1 boxer for almost 8 years and no sign of that ending soon. He is a huge inspiration to his people. What has Floyd done? There probably isn't a Filipino citizen that hasn't at least heard of Manny.

  • @crowley0312 Good point about the phillipines. I didnt think of it that way. Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrTUFFTALK And I've just read your other comments about Mayweather. No offense but you believing that Mayweather is better than Sugar Ray Robinson because of Robinson's 19 losses on his record tells me you know very little about the sport. Robinson has fought over 200 fights and beat all of the best opponents and faced a far better competition then Mayweather did and I'm pretty sure Mayweather would of lost a lot of fights too if he were fighting over 200 fights in Robinson's era.

  • @Brownpride480 Robinson's prime record was 128-1-2, in a time when only the best could box nonetheless. This guy know's nothing about boxing.

  • @crowley0312 yeah I can see and plus this guy's all saying that he like's Mayweather because he's a "Black American" which is a stupid reason why to like a boxer and it also tells me that guy is not really a true boxing fan no offense to him. I like any boxers regardless of their race or nationality as long as they have a style that gets me to fall in love with it. I'm Mexican-American and I love Sugar Ray Robinson,Muhammad Ali and Roy Jones Jr. These 3 African-American boxers along with...

  • @crowley0312 the greatest Latino boxer of all time Roberto Duran who's half Panamanian and half Mexican.

  • @crowley0312 are my favorite boxers.(sorry the comment before this one I forgot to finish the whole thing and tried to delete the unfinished comment but it wouldn't let me)

  • @MrTUFFTALK Its called class...and putting floyd mayweather in the same sentence as muhammad ali is an insult + Ali was funny mayweather is not Ali backed up his claims mayweather is ducking pacquiao big diff!

  • @MegaSlayerr ur right I shouldnt compare ali to mayweather. Ali has 5x more losses, ali wasnt the greatest defensive fighter, ali was not the greatest technical fighter in history, ali dosent have the highest hit/connet percentage in history!!! your right ali doesnt compare to mayweather

Even Laila Ali the UNDEFEATED world Champion daughter of Muhammed Ali even said Floyd was a greater technical figher than her dad!!! Ali was a minstrel show. Floyd is a serious guy, he is not a game!

  • @MrTUFFTALK Sorry i didnt relise you had a full time job of sucking floyd mayweathers balls my bad!

Bottom line long after mayweater is gone ALI will still be remembered as will sugar ray rob and thats what counts ! Simple fact is if you ask people who they prefer mayweather or ali ? landslide ALI...Ali was a peoples champ and thats worth more than any record you can break in boxing simple as !!

NOW SIT THE FUCK DOWN BITCH!

  • @MegaSlayerr Joe Louis was a people's champ too and NOBODY ever really brings him up. Ali was braggadociaous and charismatic------sound like someone familiar doesnt it, Mayweather get the biggest PPV in BOXING HISTORY. You cant deny that people want to see him.

Now take ali's dick out your ass please. I like ali but people overate him. Floyd is the greatest it is that simple. and dummy nobody will forget floyd. Just like they didnt forget hearns, hagler or even tyson.

  • @MrTUFFTALK Alright you retarded cunt im not even gonna argue with you because its completely pointless

Your obsession with floyd mayweather is unhealthy man! your not even a fan your just a plain an simple weirdo!!

  • @MegaSlayerr then shut up bitch! I hate when part-time boxing fuckheads like yourself type bullshit comments about boxing when you dont know ANYTHING about it. U probably believe pacquaio is a top ten all-time boxer too. lol. fuck off asshole.

  • @MrTUFFTALK Says the fella that has OBSESSION with mayweather and went out of your way to come onto another fighters tribute to talk about mayweather fuck off to a mayweather video and spout your bullshit too some one that might actually be gullible enuff to believe it you sad cunt!!

  • Sugar Ray was an awesome fighter but even better gentleman and sportsman.. Who the hell would say they'd like to show a guy around town these days after fighting him?

  • @Clubkedmonstah,

Ray was the P4P best, yes, of that there is no question. But don't be misled into thinking he was the ever gracious gentleman. He was at times known to be quite arrogant and somewhat aloof. The great Carmen Basilio can personally attest to some of Robinson's less admirable traits. Ray, amongst other things, was also a quite ruthless negotiator and many a time in the very last hours preceding a match he would flat out refuse to fight unless he was guaranteed extra money.

  • @Bloufo Yeah and Ali Leonard Foreman Mayweather , Hagler , Hearns , Tyson all these guys were arrogant to a degree , To be a fighter and to be the best and the fame that comes with comes arrogance and ignorance , You tell me 1 person that has there lives covered 24/7 that is always smiling and gracious towards people ??

  • this is great to hear, although it does point to decline in the sport.

  • Notice the good sportsmanship of these legends - not like the crap-talkers you hear today.

  • @gman22guns Ali was crap talking a decade after this. lol

  • Did you get to know him at all? I had read that he took his own life but not sure about the details.

  • his life ended so sadly, shot himself

  • @MickeyLove01 And tried to kill his daughter... yes i know u wrote that 1 year ago but oh well ;p

  • Thanks for uploading this, Mantis.

I wonder what Robinson and Turpin would think of today's "gentlemen" in the sport of boxing...

  • lol mike tyson

  • aww. anyway did you watch the fight towards the end? i felt bad for turpin thats the most horrific stoppage ive seen.

  • i'm going to have to disagree with you there mate, turpin was out on his feet but defending himself by keeping low on the ropes immediatly after the knockdown but he rose up with his chin unprotected and ray landed with 5 flush left hooks and right hands while turpin was trapped on the ropes and unable to get away, he would only have taken more... both great fighters and gentlemen

  • i meant it was horrific as in it should have been stopped earlier then that, it looked BAD.

  • sorry mate, totally got the wrong end of the stick there! great fight

  • they both seem like genuine nice men, polite and respectful of each other. i work with a man whos father went 4 rounds with randy turpin in 1945 as an amature, his name is les baker i think he said. he said people who new turpin never had a bad word to say about him, his father also new him after his career finished and turpin worked in a scrapyard as a burner, was a well liked character, think the pressures of life must of just got to him and tipped him over the edge.

  • All young sportsmen - watch and learn.

  • I think it is you who actually needs to explain your point. Its totally irrelevant to anything I said. Maybe you took too many punches.

  • That program was filmed 20+ years after they fought, when both had mellowed. There was no love lost between them during their fight days.

  • To this day Carmen Basilio hates Robinson. He never forgave him to being rude to him in front of his wife. When he was told of Ray's passing he said I dont give a shit.

  • Ray was best man at Lamottas wedding. They were great friends.

  • yeah in 1986!! 35 years after their bitter sports rivalry ended and Robinson had Parkinson's disease and was ony 3yrs away from death!!

They genuinely didnt like each other in their prime. Basilio didnt like Robinson either. Robinson's son didnt even like Robinson.

  • two real athlets respect for each other, in the ring they are the worst enemys but outside they are friends. thats how boxing should be

  • This just shows how far we've come, the class the these two guys show each other would never happen today. If a guy loses today he'll always blame someone or something else for their loses, and not have a nice word to say about anyone :(

These two guys come from a different time,a time when there was respect.

  • Sugar Ray was a womaniser who used to beat his wife. He was a gentlman when he chose to be. Carmen Basilio hated him for his arrogance. La Motta didnt like Robinson either. Randy ended up trying to kill his daughter.

  • @innit27 that was a shame that randy attempted to kill his baby girl who was about 10 months at the time by firing two bullets into her body prior to killing himself from what i read. If he wanted to kill himself, that is one thing but to attempt to kill somebody else? I do not believe that he was an evil bloke; he just was over the edge, still no excuse in what he did to his daughter.

  • Fighters still show great respect for one another today, its just the odd big mouth who doesn't or they are pressured into being nasty in order to boost publicity for a fight. 98% of the time they show respect after the fight. Look at the amount of bad mouthing Ali did of his opponents. Galento slagged off Louis for real in the run up to their fight. So dont give out the bull about 'back in the old days'.

  • I hear you brother. The attitude of today is amazingly shallow and self satisfying, Pathetic and very very sad, and it's spreading like a cancer all over the world.

We have kids here is NZ acting like USA rap wanksters. It makes my heart sink to think how stupid and greedy we have bacome. And were will this world be in 50 years from now.

  • People said the same thing 50 years ago when rock n roll came along.

  • Turpin talks about the fact that stooge referee Ruby Goldstein stopped the fight in Robinson's favor and took away Turpin's title with just seconds left in the round.

Goldstein would NEVER have done that if the situation had been reversed.

Robinson was in deep trouble at that point with a deep gash over his eye.

In the final flurry Robinson missed almost every punch he threw, and then Goldstein stopped the fight.

  • I live in leamington spa! My grandad was his blood brother.

  • my grandad was a friend and sparring partner of Randy's.

  • thats not a preston/lancashire accent u muppet. He lived just 5 miles from me in Leamington spa. One of his brothers (i think its Jaqui) still lives there.

  • that is a lancashire/preston accent you muppet ,you think all english accents sound the same?

  • compair floyd 50 cent mayweather robinson 2 robinson? HELL NO.. sugar ray is the best fighter of all time, period.

  • I was reading and apparently Turpin was being blasted by the british press just for losing and wasn't as popular as he was when he won so he shot himself. I mean he was probably the only fighter who out-boxed SRR in both fights even though he lost the 2nd where as most boxers who have won against Sugar just have toughness. (Lamotta-Basilio) That's what I hate about the british people when somethings not going there way there's always something to blame.

  • Bit of a sweeping ignorant generalisation there about 60m people! The press are always harsh thats what sells papers. Anyway the British are renowned for loving game losers and hating arrogant winners. The story goes he shot himself cos he owed loads of money to gangsters and was in depression as many sportemen are when their careers are over - dont go blaming evryone else. All sportsmen have to accept after their career finishes they will no longer get the attention.

  • My bad, at the time I was just curious enough to wanna know why this guy committed sucide, I read the info off Wikipedia, and was kinda pissed at the British media, cause well living here you learn how harsh they can be at times.

  • There is also rumour that he was murdered by criminals because they had taken a lot of his money for 'safe-keeping' and now that he wanted it back and was making trouble, they decided to bump him off. This would not explain why his baby daughter was killed though. There is very little about this on the internet.

Not disimlar to Freddie Mills, another great Brit boxer, who ended up in apparent suicide, but it had mirky underworld connections possibly protection racketeers over his club.

  • wtf is with Turpin voice, im english and i don't speak like that

  • It'd true. The nice guy image was created by his wife for crossover appeal to whites. The real Ray Robinson was like Ali, Leonard, and Mayweather, very cocky.

  • How do you know this? Just asking, I need to know.

  • when turpin beat robinson in london at earls court to win the world title, he took the tube to the venue

  • It's impossible to compare guys like Floyd Mayweather to the all-time greatest Sugar Ray Robinson. He was a true fighter in the ring and a nice guy out of it. He was like no other.

  • never heard Turpin being accused of rape and even if true doesn't mean much. I miss the class older fighters had, only ali could do all the bluster and not be a bore. SRR was the coolest, listen to that voice and look at him after one of his toughest fights and you realize that he had a charisma that was singular.

  • Differant time, differant mentality with people in general. Sport has also become entertainment now remember that also. Back in the day the fans used to do all the shit talking for the fighters, now that fighting has slacked off in popularity the boxers themselves "need" to spur a lot of the interest on with their attitudes. It all began with Ali, sport and show but has slid downhill from there

  • Both of them have class & respect. I can appreciate that!
