Hey i do this on my rope, and i can get the swing and extension fine on the rope but i have a problem converting it to the actual pole vault run. If anyone knows how to help me out i'd really appreciate it
@surfvault its not as close as it looks...we do all of our drilling under the supervision of a certified coach...and believe me, I was actually trying to hit the wall...its impossible.
The top arm is not the problem here. it's the bottom arm, they all pull on it... sure it swings faster but the jump end up being shallow... you need to use both are. top to bring the pole to the vertical and bottom to move the pole/create space to rock back...
@rene311281 I think I get what you are saying, if you could clarify though that would help. The bottom arm, for the purpose of the drill, has to be used to control the rope. Remember its only a drill so things may look different from a full vault. If you have an example of the rope drill without someone "pulling" with the left arm, post it so we have an idea of what you saying. For most of the drill the left arm is pushing, full extension.

This is a great drill. Can also be done with a bungee.

Am I the only one worried about those kids hitting their heads on the back swing?

not bad but their top hands should be higher and they don't need to pick up so much speed. If they can do it with less speed, it'll be better.
