how do I solve a function for -4 with no x ?

Two people have a better solution. lets here but nothing can top the way he taught this. I am part of an online school and this is how i get a lot of my lessons, this is the best way I have seen to solve the functions. I still do not like them but this makes sense. The issue I have is making them from a standard function into a piecewise function. But thanks a lot this is great. I subbed so if i need more help I know where to look =).

When a solid do conflicts with a dot with a hole in the middle, the hole is basically ''filled'' by that solid dot. When this happens we get whats called a continuous function, rather then a discontinued function.

It is where i go to summer school) has a very thick Spanish accent. so when he explains things, i dont understand what he is trying to say.. i have not taken algebra 2, so doing this class in the summer we have to go through all the chapters really quick. and it is really hard for me. and this video helped me a lot. thank you
