  • Thanks homie.

  • THANK YOU, MY JOURNEY TO UNDERSTANDING MATH HAS BEGUN, thanks for your time

  • you made me fail a test....

  • Words can't describe how much this video helped me....THANK YOU!

  • Is this Casey Affleck teaching us Math ?

  • good vid

  • Thanks dude...

  • Gracias, so much. You made it understandable!

  • Thank you! omg helped so much

  • Oh my God! Im in an honors accelerated Algerbra 2 math class and this helps so much! Im a freshman so i was so confused b4 with the graphing. THANK YOU FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO MAKE THIS VIDEO!

  • this helps alot but what my piecewise function says has: |x+8| + 7

    -x - 8

    -4

    x - 7

    |x - 7| +7

    how do I solve a function for -4 with no x ?

  • @Zeldaaa000 The function value is always -4 regardless of the value for x.

  • Thanks! Lost my notes for this class session, so i came to youtube. Quiz tomorrow, you're going down!

  • I HATE SCHOOL... thanks so much.

  • Thank You so much for taking the time out to do this video. It was incredibly helpful.

  • Thanks, sir. If it wasn't for this video, I'd have no chance of passing my test tomorrow.

  • Thanks so much! This helped a lot. :D

  • I love u man

  • Come be my algebra teacher. I finally understand this! Thank you!

  • your voice is like heroin.

  • ready for my quiz on exactly this tomorrow, thank you!

  • Very nice lesson! Thanks much.

  • amazing

  • This helped me out so much! :D Thank you for posting this!

  • this helped alot!! i have finals next week so thank uuuu!!

  • I wish u were my teacher my honors algebra 2 teacher is a midget who can't teach

  • OMW Thank you so much, you! I have an Algebra III test tomorrow and I needed this!

  • you are a god

  • My pre cal exam is tomorrow...you just saved my grade

  • U ROCK! Thanks for the help!

  • i kinda dont get it still what happens when you use numbers that aren't 0?(when you were graphing

  • Dude, my IB math teacher sucks. Thanks so much, as I do my homework, I pause your videos and resume homework, thank you, so so much.

  • You are my hero. Thank you so much! I wish you were my math teacher...

Hi Lauren, I know you're reading this. :)

  • learning on youtube is so much easier than learning at school thanks man

  • Two people have a better solution. lets here but nothing can top the way he taught this. I am part of an online school and this is how i get a lot of my lessons, this is the best way I have seen to solve the functions. I still do not like them but this makes sense. The issue I have is making them from a standard function into a piecewise function. But thanks a lot this is great. I subbed so if i need more help I know where to look =).

  • @Jones4679 I meant lets hear it*

  • AWESOME!!!! YOU EXPLAIN VERY WELL!!!!

  • How would you determine if it is infinity ?

  • @sbordes8yhara if you can plug in any real number that means infinity. It all depends whether it is an real number below zero or above. below zero is simply -infinity.

  • jesus.. im taking online math class i been stressing wtf to do for the last 30 minutes cuz of their lame explanation.. i watched 1:16 of this and now i understand

  • i wish this was my math class

  • Thank you, I understood this. I take a math exam today and I think I'll pass now!

  • What about piece wise functions with absolute values? I don't know how to do those.

  • can you do a video on Fourier series? please and thank you :)

  • thank you so much for these videos.

  • Thank you so much! I had no clue what did my teacher did in class. But after watching I this I understand this 100 times better.

  • ur frikin amazing!!!

i didnt understand anything my teacher taught us today nd we had a butt-load of homework but ur a frikin life saver

  • i got a math test tomorrow and man, I LOVE IT!

  • I have to thank you so much. My teacher has such a horrible way to explain mathematics I don't understand. My teacher took 30 minutes and still haven't grasp this. You just taught me this in 9 minutes and 54 seconds and understand it better. Thank you once more

  • my college algebra teacher ..... i hate her... BUT YOU MY FRIEND HAVE ALLOWED ME TO TAKE A STEP FORWARD!

  • Dude you are awesome!!! I have a test tomorrow!

  • Thanks!

  • Great job in explaining love the videos!

  • Thank you for explaining this so well. I was confused in class, but not anymore. :D

  • beautiful; simply beautiful.

    dude wheres your noble prize?

  • Judging by your voice, you're no older than 28 and you're already a way better teacher than my retarded one. Good job homie :)

  • best teacher ever! cheers!

  • ur a boss thanks so much

  • you should be a math teacher

  • @Deannerzz I am!

  • THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how much you have helped me!

  • do doth dots have to be on the same line?

  • Okayy so if you have x>3...... your still allowed to use 3? even though it says to use a bigger number.???? im confused just about that part.? But wouln't it be wrong on the test? because it tells you to use a bigger number than 3.?

  • lifesaver

  • Comment removed

  • This helped me so much. Thank you <3 But I have one question. Would it still be right if you graphed the line first, (as in y=whatever) and then put the dot there? Cuz thats how my teacher explained it. I like your way a lot better though :D

  • @puppyluv1031 Yeah, you should still get the same graph. I just like to know where the individual "parts" of the graph begin and end before I connect the dots.

  • Comment removed

  • I love you. Thanks.

  • How would we wwrite our own piecewise equation when given information?

  • whys the second line in the first equation a proabla?

  • @magerr34 Because it's y=x^2+1 which is a quadratic function and all quadratic functions graph as parabolas.

  • I've been trying to understand this for half of a semester and you pretty much wrapped up the whole thing in only a couple of minutes answering all the questions that I had. Please keep making these videos you math angel.

  • Thank you so much! This saved my life!

  • So wait you plug the interval in?

This is what I'm working as, for an example:

-3x if x less than or equal to -4

x if 0 less than x less than or equal to 3

and 8 if x is greater than 3

  • FINALLY I GET IT!!!!! Thank you!!

  • im going to pass pre calculus because of you (: thank you so muchhh!

  • You give FUNctions a whole new meaning.... not really, but reallllllly helpful

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! IT ALL MAKES SINCE NOW!!

  • this video deserves 100k views!

  • thank you soooo much. you definitely saved me for my algebra 2 test tomorrow

  • @soccersam31 HAHA i think were in the same class :P jk

  • Hi.

This has helped me so much. But i have one question. Why was the first one like two seperate lines and the second one one connected graph? thanks!

  • @lherring52 That's just the way the graphs turned out. Some graphs are connected. Some are not.

  • So helpful! Thank you

  • Dude, thank you sooooooooo much. You taught this better than my teacher. You helped me so much

  • so helpful! i get it now! YESS

  • Thank you so so much! You make everything so clear! :)

I finally understand it after a week of struggling!

  • Thank you so much!! You saved my Algebra 2 grade!!!

  • You saved my Algebra 2 grade:) THANK YOU!

  • thank you so much!! youtube and google teaches better than my math teacher >_>

  • YOU ARE AMAZING!

thank you so much for this tutorial it helped so much like you have no idea!

i was flipping through pages of my textbook but they didn't have the step-by-step on how to graph piece-wise functions and i searched on google and came across this video.

    THANK YOU!

  • wuttA bauss

  • thank you very much !!!

  • OMG I LOVE YOU! I totally understand! gosh i was gonna have a nervous breakdown be4, i found ur vid- keep em comming :)

  • if you cant use 3 in the 2nd part why you using it? would it be right to use another number that falls into the category?

  • @androcci

When a solid do conflicts with a dot with a hole in the middle, the hole is basically ''filled'' by that solid dot. When this happens we get whats called a continuous function, rather then a discontinued function.

  • @MatHaCroBat =O oh... thanks makes sense now.

  • I think I'm in love with you! Thank you so much. I left class early today because I was sick, so I wasn't listening to half the stuff he was talking about. Now I can do my homework because of you(: THANKS!

  • you a complete boss. i love you

  • . . so i failed my test . .

    im taking a re - take . .

and this saved my life . THANK YOU (:

  • Thanks for posting this! I have an Algbra 2 test on this tomorrow, and my class is full of rowdy football players, AND my teacher is a football coach! It's really hard to get anything done. You should definitely be a teacher if you aren't already. This was great!

  • amazing now i just to do 50 problems of it for hw

  • thanks! helped a bunch

it would be better if you could show us some harder ones, but thanks a lot!

  • you are the best. you have no idea how much this helped.

  • thanks man. good job

  • I just learned how to graph piecewise functions on the toilet!!! Thanks :)

  • OMG YOU ARE BETTER THAN MY TRIG TEACHER

  • I wish I had you for a teacher! My teacher explains everything way too quickly, so we don't catch everything..Thanks for the great video!

  • my algebra 2 teacher just assigns book work and we have to use the math book to figure everything out, so thanks so much for explaining it!

  • omg thank you so much! this clearly explains what i was having trouble with :)

  • thanx for the beautiful tutorial!

  • Thank you so much for this!! I didn't understand this at all. But now I do!!! :)

  • wow 1:46 second into the video i get it!! My Algebra 2/Trig teacher couldnt teach me it in 54 minutes!

  • Thank you so much for this! Subscribed.

  • OH, I meant to ask. What if you have x between 2 signs? FOr example: -1 < x < 2.

  • @eargoggles1 It's done the same way, only we need to worry about what happens at -1 AND what happens at 2.

  • Thank you so much. The way my teacher taught, I was screaming at my homework. Thank goodness for youtube! Really saved the day.

  • Amazing.

  • This helped a ton :)

  • Thank you sooooo much. My Analysis teacher's explanation was a crap shoot. This is awesome, thanks!

I understand every word you say! thank you very much!

    regards from Malaysia.. cheers..

  • OMG thanks so much this video was so informative and I actually understand piecewise functions now this was very helpful.

  • Hi, may I ask what program or software you are using to write do this with? Also, thanks for the great tutorial.

  • @minameise I am using an old version of Photoshop as the "white board", with ScreenFlow to capture my voice and screen. I write on a Wacom Bamboo tablet.

  • this video is very precise and informative. i am in summer school in Tucson arizona, and my algebra 2 teacher there ( i don't go to this school. It is where i go to summer school) has a very thick Spanish accent. so when he explains things, i dont understand what he is trying to say.. i have not taken algebra 2, so doing this class in the summer we have to go through all the chapters really quick. and it is really hard for me. and this video helped me a lot. thank you

  • in 10 minutes, you explained 1 month worth of calculus ^:)^

  • Hey Me To!,

  • I have to take a state test that includes this even though i was supposed to learn it last year. (Screw the education officials in georgia) My math teacher barely taught it. Thank you!!!

  • THANK YOU so muchh:):D!
