  • Wonderful playing. Wish Chopin featured more in his repertoire.

  • in der Tat: hervorragend. Klang und vor allem Konsistenz des Tempos. Ich habe Brendel regelrecht entdeckt, vorher zu wenig wahrgenommen. Sein Anschlag ist einzigartig.

  • @KarloFeder - guter Beitrag - I translated ur post using google and glad you liked this recording , and for the reasons sited

  • ..This is played very nice indeed by Alfred Brendel. The question is 'why didnt he play much more so called genuine piano composers in his career?'

More a structural than a poetical Chopin, less from the point of view of a virtuoso, but it suits to the Polonaise Brillante and also with a good sound and technique. I must say this is amazing! :-)

  • @berlinzerberus I think he said he would have had to have specialised in Chopin if he was going to play it, which he obviously chose not to do.

  • @berlinzerberus As far as Chopin goes, he said once that the way Alfred Cortot played him will be the best. Therefore it was better to leave him [Chopin] alone.
