I love that Pulp played the Park, like Radiohead on the Friday, it is fast becoming the place to be for bands that call Glastonbury their home. Loved it and really did steal the weekend for me this year. Absolutley loved this chorus kicking inhere. Heaven..
All this talk about Pulp has got me thinking about buying a day ticket to see them at this years Reading festival! There actually appears to be some confusion as to who is headlining that night - the official website seems to suggest the Strokes are (no bad thing of course).Oh and good to see on your channel page you like Suzanne Vega - Luka (one of my fav songs of all time!)
well done glastonbury - instead of putting this band on the main stage (where they belong) you instead put them on this tiny stage with at best limited viewing due to a dip in the hill.Oh well still I was in the recycling team so I didn't pay for my ticket.See you all in 2013!
That's the point of the 'Special Guests' billing. It's so random what you can get and it's an opportunity to see big bands on small stages (Pulp, Radiohead) or gamble on a rumour that it's Muse and ending up with Supergrass playing covers. One of my favourite parts of Glasto.
@mozza345 the idea is interesting - i grant you that BUT when there were people who had paid £200 for a ticket - not me I should add as I was "working" - I think it is unfair on those who would have liked to see them and as I said before in an area of the site better suited for a stage (the bottom of a slope springs to mind!) There is plenty of locations: the entire Shangri-La area should be cleared of those "installations" and the self-indulgent people who work there to make room.
@revol148 I don't see anything unfair in Pulp as a surprise guest at the Park. On the contrary, the Park is the best place for those sort of act who get the main stage treatment all the time. A band like them in such a small stage is a blessing for all who bet on the surprise act !!! People make a choice, see Elbow on the other stage, or gamble and see Pulp at the Park !!! MAGIC !!!! Beside, on the left top part of the Park, are plenty of space to see and hear from afar...
@GaranceKan The park stage is fast becoming the place to be for the suprise guests, if your knackered and covered in mud, chill in the stonebridge and wait to see what happens.....it worked for me ,but hey i was working that area anyway, covered in mud and knackered,
They sound great - Hoping they'll get to the U.S.
This footage - with lens flares, group singing along, way at the back - is more interesting than those 'flying cameras' and megaproduction b.s. on the BBC
@Alastair1874 Brilliant video and would hate to think bad of Pulp, but was it a BBC decision or theirs? Lenard Cohen didn't allow TV coverage last year
@Alastair1874 Brilliant video and would hate to think bad of Pulp, but was it a BBC decision or theirs? Leonard Cohen didn't allow TV coverage last year
@Alastair1874 The stage they played (the park) doesn't have any TV coverage, though they should have done it, just for Pulp. Awesome video though! Really captures the atmosphere, it was fantastic!
@Alastair1874 Not being on tv is kinda part of the point though. It makes it feel more intimate and special for the crowd there, who gathered simply through word of mouth.
@Alastair1874 No they aren't. 1) It was a surprise set. 2) It was on the Park Stage and there are very rarely if EVER cameras there. There weren't any for Radiohead, or Thom and Jonny, Biffy Clyro in 2010. It is part of what makes it so special when you are actually there.
@Alastair1874 It was a secret set and they dont have BBC film crews at the park stage. It would be a disgrace for there to be even more film staff on site taking up space and wasting money. It was more special this way.
Being American, I've always just dreamed of going to Glasto, and next year, when I am studying abroad over there, I think I am gonna try and go. But this year, it was SURPRISE RADIOHEAD! and then SURPRISE PULP! and this is just so brilliant, I just know it won't be this good next year :(
@opennoise Its even worse than that im afraid. there is no glastonbury next year they are having a rest year to allow the sites fields to recover but there are still loads of other great festivals to go to.
@bobnot75 i just looked that up after i wrote this comment...of course of all the years! oh well. but yeah, there's oxegen i know...but i'll have to see if i can stay that long in europe.
@opennoise well, it isnt on next year, but it is even more amazing as you think, and if you ever get the chance you should go, its a dream, no other festivals match it!:D
@ggrthytjuyr i just looked that up after i wrote this comment...of course of all the years! oh well. but yeah, growing up with british music in the 90s and 00s...it's always been my dream
@opennoise gutted, but yeah, its definitely worth it, people you dont like suddenly become your favourite band as its just such a different mindset there, really magical
Pure j0y!
