  • I also bought the CD because of this song. Yes, this to me is the best version.

  • My favoriteChristmas song. Brings back sad memories of my favorite Aunts murder just days after the release of this song in 1958. She was born in Ireland, proud of it, and liked her Jameson straight up. She was hell on wheels after two of them, but she was a great Aunt and I still think of her and miss her a lot, this version of Drummer Boy causes the memories to come flooding back.

  • Thank you both for your words. I never, ever tire of this version, or from any selection from the Harry Simeone Christmas album from which it was culled. I don't get too weepy much, but if this one finds itself in the machine, I'm a cooked goose every time!

  • It's my father's baritone keeping the time down low in this song. It really is the best version of all time., I honor my father who has had a stroke since he recorded this and cannot remember being a part of it. Breaks my heart when they sing "I played my best for him".

  • @818morrissey That is such a shame. I'm so sorry. At least he was a part of such a magical song.

  • @818morrissey This has always been the best version of this Christmas carol. I'm sorry about your father. God Bless you.

  • This is my favorite Christmas song of all time and this is by far my favorite version of the song. Blessings to your father for giving us so much. Thanks to him for playing his best for us.

  • to Genamarie from Trent

  • Haha I'm SUPER SLOW!!!! I Just learned of this song this year got stuck to my head haha!!!

  • Nice!

  • Well just remember, those we love are always close by, they are just behind a veil we cannot see through.

  • Your father has excellent taste in music, I'm sorry for his passing.

  • @pegasus818 Thank you so much. Merry Christmas!

  • Babette's... uh, Bovine's... no, Bieber, that's right! Bieber's cannot even come close to the original version. His trying to squeal his way through it just doesn't cut it. You have to have the choir and the basses backing them. It just is....

  • @ongawesgone I have chose to ignore the fact that Justin Bieber can now be associated with Christmas music. He really should stay out of my favorite category.

  • Maybe the most beautiful song ever for Christmas.....

  • bob segar, david bowie, john denver, the movie verison, josh groban, & this verison is my most favorite of the Little drummer boy...

unless this verison and the movie verison is the same

  • I remember when my Aunt sang this to me when I was a little girl. God bless her she has been gone for 11 years now, I miss you Aunt Celia. I hear this I think of you.:)

  • This is definitely the best version ever made!!!!!

  • This is one of my all-time favorites. My late mother bought the record for me when I was just a kid because I loved to hear it so much. It really takes me back. Such good memories. Thank you!

  • Like your father, it is mine as well....Christmas is my fav time of the year, sadly, the only fav time of year I enjoy...as I listen to this music through out the year...I know, Im strange, but thats a given haha...these days though it is welcomed to bring a temporary fix, relief from the darn heat! : )

  • @Oldiesbuff925 Thank you for the comment. And, don't feel bad. I listen to Christmas music whenever I feel like it! ;]

  • Best version ever!

  • I love the sound of this version. Thanks for posting it.

  • yeah my fathers and mine favorite xmas song also . Love you Dad rest in peace.......

  • @jesuspsr13 =]

  • The original and the best. All the other pop/rock/contemporary/easy listening versions are just poorly performed spinoffs

  • This is the Classic "The Little Drummer Boy" by Harry Simeone Chorale! My Grandmother loved this Christmas song and played it on her record player every year until she passed 2005! I still play this song but its on a CD now! :)

  • I have this on a Christmas CD I bought several years ago. It was the whole reason I bought it. This song is amazing...as was stated previously..this is the absolute version, nothing comes close at all. It takes me back to my childhood Christmases and really captures the REASON for the season. Thank you for sharing it. RIP to your father, he had excellent taste in Christmas music :]

  • @am150965 Thanks so much for your kind comment. =]

  • My father is singing in this ...thanks for posting...we have no original recordings but hear it often around the holidays and my son loves it!!!

  • @dot1066 That's fantastic! And, it's my pleasure!

  • @dot1066 That is soooo cool. MY FAVORITE SONG and VERSION.

  • The 1st album my Mother ever bought for me was Harry Simeone Chorale Little Drummer Boy.

  • @nutballgazette- Does it have a bunch of Christmas songs like Mr.Santa, Masters in the hall.

  • @nutballgazette I really do not remember, Maybe if dig around I might still have it and look to see what else is on it. I got in the mid 60s.

  • I feel like I am 4 years old again as I listen to this...So nice of you to do this for your father.

  • @DramaDon83 Thank you. =]
