Lmfao. Twin Turbo 50 more hp. Piece of shat. Like mtooshort20 said a year ago ha, why no bump up that psi from factory, or better yet, through on a single turbo on the bas z4 and run more boost and be faster that the twin turbo z4. Wow lame.
Both the interior and exterior were designed by women is what I think they mean. I saw an interview of them on youtube somewhere... very interesting as to their approaches and their interpretation of a masculine line.
wait, wait. The base engine has 250hp but the twin-turbo version of the same engine only has 300hp?? what are they running, 3psi combined?? If ur gonna twin turbo something, at least give it 5-7psi to justify having them. Otherwise, you could have just run a single small turbo at 3-5psi, make the same power, bring the cost down a little bit, and save materials.
sometimes car manufacturers do stupid things.. like how bmws are so quiet? its because the engine has a valve cover for the valve cover for the valve cover.. its rediculous and costly.. its almost worse than lotus putting toyota engines in their car!!
lol yeah that's crazy, but i have to say, those toyota 4cylinders are very good once modified, but in stock form, not so much. It would have been better if they would have used the 2.0L turbo Ecotech from the Chevy Cobalt SS turbo and Solstic GXP....would have had an all aluminum motor, 260hp 260tq in 1900lb car....0-60 in like 3.5secs...a real supercar eater lol
wanna hear my opinion? drop a lambo 6.6L V12 into a lotus (it wouldn't fit) and you would get eh.... 0 to 60 in about ohhh 2.9, and a top speed of like 220, and like 700 horse.. add twin pizza sized turbo? 800 horse.. the only thing is the lotus is really lightweight, and the torque would rip the chassis... but hey in need for speed that might work lol
lol yeah that's the only place that would work lol. That motor is waaay too heavy for that chassis. Ur right, it would completely destroy and twist that car, even if you could some how get it in. It would also completely throw the balance of the car off, and you would NEVER catch traction lol. With the Ecotech motor, you could still keep the weight and balance of the car and have rediculous acceleration and top out at like 185mph or more depending on the transmission used. perfect setup :)
yeah but its still a lambo motor:).. in the end if i was in charge i would probably take out the stock motor and put in a 3.5L nissan engine from a 350z.. that wouldn't be TOO heavy
it would still be too heavy and throw off the balance. If you wanted 6 cylinders, go with the Supra straight 6 or the Skyline's straight 6. They make massive power and you can still keep the balance of the car so that it handles like a Lotus should :)
Love the style of this new z4, much more masculine... @mtooshort20 The L6 2JZ (supra) motor out weights a GM LS3 V8 by 150 lbs. Their not light motors, cast iron block, and forged internals - Great motors but don't be fooled they aren't that light. The RB2. (skyline) is the better choice here for a lotus, however the VVTI Toyota 4's are the best all around choice. Reliable, well engineered, and most important to lotus, light-weight. Cheers.
are u talking about a toyota 1.8...if yes this is the wrong place the z4 is a work of art combining speed and efficiency who cares about toyota....audi bmw mercedes porshe are the best
i almost got the bmw z8 but it looked like crap so i got a 2011 porsch boxster

Kinda wish I had taken the factory tour, when they built these in the US. Not too sure if I care to watch them build the X-Series stuff.

The two lead designers on this car were women!
Clutch the pearls!
But 300HP and a manual tranny means they still had to ask Daddy's approval!

190HP from a 1.8L engine is a great achievement!
Fast and efficient
And a perfect match for the Elise high speed, high intensity spirit
Any jerk can slap a turbo on
Many do!
