  • Hard to breed in captivity because females always kill the males. But the females can breed with out a male. Interesting sex life they have.

  • komodo dragons seem so intelligent

  • Cute =D Komodos are awesome!

  • 2:28 teh WTF look -.- xDD

  • dude, that fuckin thing likes bein rubbed as much as a dog.. thats awesome

  • I liked when he pet the dragon on the neck that was awesome to see in captivity and the dragon didn't seem to mind his back of the neck being rubbed.

  • @honest413 1:37 reminds me of a dog.

  • hahaha! "How to train your (Komodo) dragon"... :D

  • @Heteira owch that was corny -_-

  • @ROTFLxLAWL indeed. But that was the first... no... the second thing which comes to my mind :)

  • rare animal ive seen

  • I want one of those so bad, but it'll probably eat my cat when I'm not looking.

  • @katGarkia15 It would probably eat you mate. They like humans.

  • @Comprtonworst hahaha yeah it probably would XD

  • @katGarkia15 Worth the risk though.

  • i never knew some of this

  • They have a rlly good life there :D petting feeding sitting in The sand under a UVB light lol :D Thats a Lizard life :D

  • the babies look like dinos, not komodo dragons.

  • I'm building an enclosure for one of these soon!

  • THIS IS DINOSAUR?

  • does anyone know why they drag their feet?

  • @davidfreilich they are lazy savin energy when not hunting, when they go for huntin they can move faster than and olympic runner for short periods of time. Same reason why pengions walk so funny.

  • @1:05 lmao that posing is epic

  • quel type de personne serait assez fou soulever un de ceux. ils doivent avoir un désir de mort. ~ _ ~ ' (je dis bien un taimer non formé)

  • the colors are better when they are babies more bigger i dont like the colors but yes the lizard

  • Wat a lizard... I don't want to find that in my bedroom....

  • amazing colors and pattern when theyre babies. id love to have one, but i know better so for now ill stick with my water monitor

  • Wow That was neat that guy petting that thing, I still wouldn't trust it.

  • 1:44 SO CUTE !!!!!

  • should be called sissy monitor lizards. you just scare them off. stomp your feet in front of a large komodo dragon and it will run like hell

    crocs are the true dragons

  • my ass, the reason they aren't fearless is that they only need to nip and run to kill, instead of the alternative, since they're venomous

  • They ARE'NT venomous at all

Just a thick saliva that is swarming with deadly bacteria.

There are only two venomous lizard species in the world and that is the Gila Monster and the Mexican Beaded Lizard.

  • @CitrusPebbles tru, but the point is that it kills most stuff, which is what matters

  • now that there getting babys we mite have them as pets in 10-20 years :D

  • @crowofdeath2 I'm pretty sure that a few will end up on the private market

  • @heramoth

    lol so true

  • @crowofdeath2 According to everything I've heard, they'd make great pets. These are wild animals that have killed less than 10 people in the last 40 years and most of those can be chalked up to human error. We domesticated the wolf and got the dog out of it, why not do the same with the Komodo dragon?

  • @crowofdeath2 earlyer, they do make good pets if there is space enough

  • i love them ^^ they look so funny and cool , just adorable :D

  • i wanna pet one !!!!

  • I have two Komodos!!! Yeah right..... I do have many monitors

  • so you still alive?

  • are these illegal to have as pets? because i want to get one

  • Depends on where you live... I know in Ohio you can, in theory, own one, without any form of license.

good luck finding one to buy, they are usually kept within sale only of only licensced professional zoologists and herpetologists, meaning only animal preserves and zoo's. And even then, you wouldn't be able to afford one. On the black market, they go for $35,000, and Interpol and Indonesia goverment HEAVILY monitor their export.

stick with savannah, nile, or croc monitors. far cheaper

  • wow! yeah i'll just probably stick to a monitor lizard instead haha

  • actually they are monitors, just really big and scary ones, lol

  • you could go to indonesia and catch a baby......haha

  • lol, nah man, one bite an your done from these things, even if it was a playbite, if that teeth punctures your skin, and its spit gets into your wound, your fucked, unless you cut out the skin of the area you were bit very fast

  • I doubt you have the money, room, or knowledge to keep them. (im not trying to be rude btw)

  • todays dinosaurs

  • @TheMethodofMadness You're thinking of birds.

  • Soooooo cute :)

  • i want one haha all is to buy a house just for him to live in

  • Description says "National Geographic Video SHORTS " :D

  • I have to say some people believe they have some sort of venom but really its all in their saliva. They have 50 types of bacteria in their mouth and there's only 4 types that can kill you that they have.

  • Sorry xXHaloGirlXxATX but they do have two venom glands along their lower jaw like all varanids but varanus komodoensis's venom is a lot more powerfull. Even Bearded Dragons have some form of venom :P

  • FAVORTIE ANIMAL OF ALL TIME!!!!

  • @homereat me 2

  • *.* oh my Goddd I want it!! don't you think it's so sweet???

  • till it bikes u in he neck

  • Why he is petting the KOMODO is beyond me. I hope the stupid f'er gets bit.

  • wtf

  • look at the forearm, biceps and quadriceps at 0:57. G.Dymn

  • Komodo Dragons should be brought to Australia and be in the wilds there. It seems very suitable habitat for them to live in. Unless any of you think that is a good idea or do you guys think that will cause a problem for australia.

  • wouldnt suprise me if they could survive quiet easily, would get rid of some of the roo's we got over populating. but i dare say it would cause some kinda un ballance of super breading mammoth possum lizzards.

  • Hm got a point, but for sure something would be sort out somehow.

  • hu?

  • Australia already has the goanna, right. It seems to me that one fairly large varanid would be enough for the citizens of Australia. But then, I'm a chicken when it comes to reptiles.

  • well a side from the public i think it's a good idea for one it could fillthe ninche left behide bythe megaliana and since australia has many large invasive animals like wild horses and swamp bufflo thiey could be a big help in that

  • Komodo's would end up killing the native varanids by eating the lizards themselves and their sources of food :S

  • i dont think so komodo dragons are to large to be fine with just lizards plus they prefer large animals like horse camel deer and buffalo which cause alot of ecolicval damage as it is

  • yeah but there also known to eat juvenille dragons hence why juvenilles spend alot of time climbing trees etc were the older dragons cant reach

  • but wouldn't canniblaism be a good thing i ur case im better to each other than native reptiles right?

  • sorry I dont understand yor comment?

  • can i get komodo security for my house instead of a dog? noone fucks with a dragon

  • would be kewl, but it would probably eat your neighbours and all your friends dude ;D

  • Looks like a dinosaur

  • Wheres puff the magic dragon?

  • micha moore

  • wow thats impressive that that komodo didnt eat that guys ass

  • i want one!!

but once it gets big i will leave town

  • and plus the komodo dragon already has a low populi, and you can't just send the already raised in habitate dragons into the wild, its like saying you want to kill them, then throw em into a bowl and let other dragons eat em'. they wouldn't know how to survive, and the ability to examine a newly born komodo dragon will help the scientist figure out exactly how long ago these reptiles truly existed.

jeez man, you cussin' up a storm, doesn't look good.

  • lol medicine hey

does it look like those poisons in the dragons mouth will save anyone

ur just fascinated by this creature like me but not to the point of disturbing its environment , u dont know what its thinking ,probably wants to stay the fuck away from u , but isnt on the human level to say it

  • not posion

  • it's saliva is

  • ya saliva isn't really a poison

  • they have venom aswell

  • yes it is the bacteria in there saliva is deadly.

  • They actually only get the septic saliva when feasting on rotting flesh over long periods of time. In captivity, a bite would hurt and could possibly become infected, but isn't deadly like wild komodos.

Poison arrow frogs raised in captivity are also not toxic. They get their poison from their diet.

  • That's funny how you can explain their "septic" saliva system when Scientists have been baffled by it for years and haven't figured out EXACTLY what creates there toxins. You sounded good to begin with LOL. I'll give you that.

  • @lefure These animals were clearly meant to be domesticated.

  • i say put them in the wild

instead of experimenting on them that small glass jar where she put the dragon was really mean

these animals need outdoor living and dont have the intellectual ability or desire to live in human conditions

their fucking ancient like dinosaur ancient fuck sakes u lab guys / gals suck balls

  • Chess you must understand that the scientists dont raise the just to be mean, there is so much the science community yet dont know about this rare specimen and so much that we can learn that it is needed to raise then closely.

And the propose? Well many medicines came from synthetic animals proteins, so we may discover a new good drug by studying the dragon

  • Idiot!!

  • Wow... let a guy kill a rat on his farm and PETA and the Federal government rushes in to arrest him and take his property away...LOL

  • im posting my new pics

  • Cool. One of my favs. Save the Dragon. What is really neat is they are not poisonous, but they have so much bacteria in them that an animal will die from infection if bitten by one.

  • omg they strut

thats what made it look weird while it was walking

they fucking strut.....they are soooo cool

  • those things walk funny

  • By that logic all predator animals should be killed.

  • What an amazing creature!! They fascinate me so much!!

  • i want one lol

  • they shud get som of these and try 2 geniticly give them wings so they can ge kooler lol 100 yrs from now no 1 that red this comment made the winged dragons and then the dragons took over the worl lol

  • my all time favorite animal!

  • i love lizards and komodos r one of my favorites...=}

  • wow guess im the first commenter*I love komodo's and think there very fasanating and hope to be a breeder of varies lizards one day
