  • do you sell it?

  • Tommy The Cat at the end?

  • can you take home made samples from itunes or mp3 files and put them on the Virtual Brain?

  • @LTLfilms You can put self-made samples on your Mandala Pad after you convert your mp3 files to wav.

  • haha you do "jerry was a race car driver" at the end dont you?

  • why not show a complete drumset, showing snare and toms like a real drumset all the other stuff comes second, can you sample simmons drum sounds like the sdx?

  • i would buy this instead of an sdx but i see no demenstration of a real drum set,why sell three pads instead of four pads as a pakage as that would be a drumset minus bassdrum,so i get a better deal on three but have to pay almost half again for the fourth?

  • How is the stick rebound on this? Is it like a real drum, or more like a rubber pad?

  • the rebound is similar to a pd8 roland pad. both the roland rubber pads and the mandalas have a rubber coating over a round metal plate.

  • i got a quick question, can you still use this without the brain? can i just plug this into my computer and play?

  • yeah you can just plug this (mandala v2.0) into your computer with USB and play. your computer is the brain. no other brain is necessary.

  • Imagine, if you will, an entire kit made out of mandala pads.

  • danny carrey has 7 of these on his kit.

  • Yeah, but he uses them for effects. Which is awesome.

But like if you preset each pad to be a different tom/snare/cymbal ect.

  • omg

  • Holy shit, extremely good precision in this one... sounds perfect

  • you absolutly need a computer for this thing?

  • For this one, yeah. There's another (more expensive) version that has it's own brain.

  • ....I think I just had a tiny orgasm.......

  • YES!

  • This drum is amazing! £300 in the UK

  • where dya get em from

  • Can the sounds of this sample pack be manipulated? Mainly interested in if you can change the pitch.

  • Yes you can!

  • does the usb mandala have to remain connected to a computer or can u plug it into a PA or amp and just use a socket?

  • I'm also wondering this...

Is it USB only or can you use it as a stand alone trigger via TRS?

  • v1.0 is standalone and v2.0 is always connected to a computer.

  • does the mandala v2.0 hook up to a tom stand or just a snare stand?and does it come with any stand at all?

  • it can sit in a snare stand or it can fit onto a 10.5mm or 9.5mm L-rod. it doesn't come with a stand.

  • These L-Rods you speak of... do they have to be mounted to some specific type of stand or can the be mounted to pretty much anything sturdy?

I'm a guitarist, i know nothing of drumracks or how they are set up. Is there any thing you would recommend as far as stand vs. mounting?

  • That right there is 1200 separate samples of a single snare all sitting on the Mandala surface at the same time ready to be triggered. It's 10 zones from center to edge with 20 velocity layers of each, which is 200 samples, and then 6 round-robins of each of those, which is 1200! That's like 1000 times better than anything else in the world. This thing kicks ass. Now I want them to record more samples so I can switch from the classic Black Beauty to Bonham's snare and on and on.

  • It's 3000 samples.

  • Straight from their page:

A new kind of synthesizer, the Mandala 2.0 packages a musical range so wide it simultaneously offers players the top of the line, most accurate model of a physical drum (via 3,000 professionally created, proprietary samples of the Black Beauty Snare Drum) - along with a library of sounds derived from more than 100 other instruments. In all, the Mandala 2.0 features four gigabytes of sound samples. It's a synthesizer with drumsticks...

  • It's 1200 samples of 'Snare On', 1200 samples of 'Snare On with Rim', 480 samples of 'Snare Off' and 480 samples of 'Snare Off with Rim'. Thats 3360 total of one single snare but this video is just 'Snare On' so it's 1200 samples. 'Snare On' has 10 zones with 20 velocity layers and 6 round robins. That's 10 x 20 x 6 = 1200.

  • Oh alright, that's interesting to know. Did you read that on their website?

  • Straight from their Black Beauty Mandala Software with 'Snare On' selected, which I am using right now:

'For this application the Mandala is divided into 10 zones from center to edge and contains 20 velocity level samples in each zone and 6 round robins of every individual hit'

  • hi, this is awesome! I thought about buying one, but I downloaded the virtual brain and it seems I can share the pad only to 4 parts, not more..is that true? I want to use some more in the same time

  • you must've downloaded the EZ version of the software. the full version gives you up to 7 zones and up to 5 full pads. the snare in this video is actually 10 zones. the truth is that there are always 128 zones underneath it all.

  • yeah, thats the EZ..but where can I find the full? I don't have a mandala so I can't try the sounds, but I would like to take a look at that stuff!

  • all versions of the virtual brain are free (sounds included) on the support page of the synesthesia website.

  • Damn dude. Thats fucking killer

  • The only purpose of this video is to show how versatile is Mandala as a variable snare drum.

The software used is The Beauty 1.02 and the sound has not been treated in any way, except the lost in quality after processing the video.
