  • its supoosed to be victorian time mind mate

  • In one word: Amazing Video's! I am watching the next vids too!

I don't know how you do it, but it's awesome

    Greetings from the Netherlands.

  • I went up to Horsell Common recently, just to have a look around. It's a shame there's nothing to mark the events of the book.

  • This being created on a budget of 70p makes the multimillion dollar Spielberg effort look almost infinitely shameful. This adaptation really reflects the spirit of the book, and yet Spielberg just couldn't get it right with all that money. the Whining brats might have been something to do with it, and the genral disregard for the original material.

  • if the fighting machen got hit and destrod it dont kelpt moving

  • i love forever autumn such beautiful song

  • i Just watched the film again (speilberg) by chance. the ending really is the most diabolical load of nonsense ever. Cruiser the loser makes it back to Boston, which is supposedly one of the cities the aliens started at (you know, destroyin the whole of humanity and all that), and guess whos waiting there for him? ahh thats right, the mother and both the grandparents are there, in their perfectly undamaged house, full of smiles and with a warm batch of cookies ready, AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED.

  • The most awesomist ep. so far.

Haha - look at the blood fly !!

Seriously, you are to be commended on a brilliant effort.

And I'd think that in the 100 or so additional years the Martians spent watching us develop nuclear weapons / missiles / tanks and so forth, they might have come up with a 'shield' gubbins. Let's face it, they'd developed interplanetary flight by the 1890s ... while humanity had developed the heated bed-pan.

  • douchebag explosions ruin it. :[

  • i think the point was more than they brought their plants and advanced tech to earth, and then just started building whatever they thought would be the most useful for killing humans.

  • speilberg was offered the chance to do a film of the music but declined, too busy with other things and then 20 odd years later instead of going back to jeff wayne and saying right now i am ready he did his own crap tom cruise version, way to go speilberg!

  • the martians attacking the town was just pure awesomeness its self

  • @DrummerKeepkeep Of course not, I'd be more than happy to buy this on DVD, but are we not already taking this for free being on youtube? I just thought it would be easier for him to distribute it as a torrent than having to burn the DVD, package it, post it, etc...

  • My life will be forever Autumn - 'cause your not here! :(

  • This is amazing work....but.....The Air Force these days would wipe the tripods out. No shields to help them here :)

  • @PatScully123 depends... what if there were like 10 million of them :p

  • @jasonj2008 Then we would have some busy pilots and aircrew haha. I reckon the ground forces these days could cope with them as well. If they were prepared...a couple of Javelin shots would be enough to take down a Fighting Machine?...hell, anything Anti Tank these days would give them a pounding. If a Victorian Cannon can "Decapiate a Fighting Machine" then we would sure as hell smash them with modern warfare equipment.

  • @PatScully123 yeah you maybe right. i doubt they would even bother with a ground invasion, just nuke us from orbit cylon-style

  • @PatScully123 An Apache Helicopter would have no problem with them.

  • @badwolf66 That is so weird...I was thinking that today!! Serious! I had to double check that I never posted that. They can hit things from over a mile away can't they? Heat Ray? Black Smoke? No chance. :)

  • @PatScully123 We have more of a variety of fighting machines they only bought their tripods with them.

  • @badwolf66 In the book it said they started to make flying machines, thats right aint it? I'm sure that is true.

  • @PatScully123 Yep they did, but to our standards these days they'd be very primitive.

  • @PatScully123 "Across the pit on its farther lip, flat and vast and strange, lay the great flying-machine with which they had been experimenting upon our denser atmosphere when decay and death arrested them. "

  • I would love to see a complete version of this film, with all the parts joined up together, available as a download, perhaps as a torrent, in the original quality. Yes, I accept that it may be about 1Gb, but as soon as it is seeded up, I'll be quite happy to be a seeder, as I'm sure many other people would. So how about it CompressedFilms?

  • @DSGSilva You'd happily take this work of art from the owner for free? Shame on you man, I'd pay good money to get the whole thing on DVD!

  • the added sfx are way too loud and kind of off putting

  • that was FANTASTIC !!! VERY VERY well done.. I too have the album in original condition, the cd set and of course it is played along with Orson Welles Americanized radio version every Hallows Eve at our house.. Thank you so very much for taking the time to do this great work.

  • Luvving this :)))

  • I hate to admit it, but I have the very original vinyl record that was released way back in 1978. It's still in as new condition as well, even though I use to play it often.

As for these vids, they are absolutely brilliantly produced.

  • @tbear2327 Why would u hate to admit that? I just don't get it

  • @MsDaniwoo Because it indicates that I am getting old - haha

  • The vid ive sent u is a crater in the feild where i saw these objects hanging around i believe one must of landed or crashed as it 12 feet by 12 feet i ask the farmer he dosnt know what it is and how it got there.

  • Superb 5 stars but reality its really happening now watch my account and check out all the stuff all the best ufo footage thats been captured ive seen loads of UFOS in the last 5 months from discs to orange ufos red ufos white ufos or orbs ive seen cylinder craft etc it is happening and the goverment cant do nothing about it.We are under attack now fake planes ufos mimicing planes i saw orange ufos this weekend hanging around feilds hoovering then shooting of across feilds.

  • Go easy on the cheap cider!

  • Looking forward to the rest of this being uploaded. Brilliant work.

  • Wonderful! A movie I wish I could make! Much better than Spielberg's. I always wondered how the Martian tripods walked. That your work? Excellent! Can't wait to see more. Thank you for this.

  • actually though, this chapter is quite moving, i love the forever autumn track so to compressed films who ever you are i'm not trying to undermine this superb work you are putting together, this is the kind of thing youtube was made for

  • ...now you're not here..

    ..now you're not here....

  • guess i'd be using high powered lasers and particle beams,, and if that fails,, strategic low-yeild nukes (100kilo ton)

  • I loved the LP, could spend hours and hours of this music as well as Mecco's! Movie Soundtracks with Special Effects...I really must take my hat down for this video! A job well done! Congrats! The music really brought me bk to my years as a kid! Thanks!!!!

  • maybe some magnusson bombs would help?

  • you talking about the Magnusson Device from Half life 2 episode 2? xD

  • yes i am, made short work of the striders so why not?

glad to see you took my comment in the tongue in cheek way it was intended

  • well we pop a few of those on them and we win xD

  • you are SOOO AWSOME! IM GONNA PUT THESE VIDS IN FAVORITES!

  • I've got bloody goosebumps. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!

By far THE BEST WotW Fan Film I have EVER seen,

    AWESOME work!!!

  • I remember my older sister playing this LP over and over again in the late 70's. I had been about 10 yrs old when it was released. Now, 30 years later, I still enjoy listening to this. Great Music! Thanks for sharing!

  • @arbrush Same here, my big brother played it over and over and I was about 8 or so. Today is the first time I heard it all again, amazing how all those childhood memories came back, very emotional

  • Excellent!!!!!!

  • I always prefered when the humans cud destroy the enemy but only with great difficulty, added more drama instead of pointless massacre

  • Best vids ever on youtube these. I would buy a dvd in seconds. I cant live without war of the worlds, and im only 13 lol. Epic Ulla at 6:13 wow...

  • Best part in my opinion.

  • If nothing else, This should be shown on BBC either before or after Doctor Who as a mini-series!

  • Yes, it's weird how Tom Cruise was supposed to be the bastard dad in the 2005 movie, yet everyone just ended up hating the kids, LOL. They tried to make the characters more identifiable and ended up alienating audiences.

  • i'd watch this over the latest film, staring the retard u know him u want 2 shoot him tom cruise. (TWAT)

  • I did subscribe to this channel. It's still excellent. I still hope you put together a dvd. I'm going to watch it in full tonight before I go to sleep. I don't think I will ever get tired of War of the Worlds.

  • you can tell that the beginning of earth was a little bold and the tripods looks more realistic than the planes...... But the places are real i can tell cause he just used affect for the places the war began. Realy good idea to do that and since i havnt seen the REAL movie this is the top 1 i hav ever seen!

  • I can't commend this highly enough. Thank you so much for doing this. Thank you.

  • Thank you Justin Haywood...

  • Love the song at the end.

  • These are getting better and better!

    Superb :-)

Will you be sticking them all together after completion to create 1 full video? That would be awesome:-)

  • I watched the first two parts to this last night and had to bookmark it as I was so hooked!! Think what you've done is bloody F-A-B so I'm subbing! I agree with kitchenaut, that Spielberg version was a mega budget but also a mega let down!

  • Oooh, look! Someone on a budget actually gave us a WAR of the worlds, as described in the fucking book, not a couple of brats whinging for two hours.

What do you think about that, Mr Spielberg?

  • @kitchenaut a pretty small budget :p

  • @kitchenaut to fecking ture............. need i say more

  • @kitchenaut a budget of 70p no less!

  • WOW

  • you've got it just right! excellent. wel done.

  • the fighting machines remind me of strider's from hl2.

  • amazing

  • Richard, I am a space freak, my first overseas trip was to NASA!

You HAVE to include "the face on Mars" Maybe with the "Green Flare" Awesome. Watch my you tubes as well- bazzawombat!!!~

    Thanks heaps!!

  • I wounder how the martions knew where they where going did they have TomTom how much would that cost on mars

they wouldnt be able to argue cus the only thing the can say is ulla i have a thery they are actually trying to say hola hello in spanish becus they where origionaly trying to land in spain but got lost and ended up in england which brings me to my first question do they have tom tom

    Important questions

  • if your gonna name the species of Extrateretrials that live on mars they are called MARTIANS not martions

  • Oh yeh sorry i a dislecsic

  • my bad

  • lol is k

  • It feels so real

  • awesome. great work.

  • the news video footage of the fighting machines walking was just seamless, perfect way to update a classic story. Huge props to Compressed films!

  • Its awesome, any way to turn up the volume on the voices and less on the music and fx?

  • is this really happening or are the all about?

  • I like how you said "lol"

  • great to see this put online, very inventive graphics. it would be interesting to see what compressedfilms could do with this if he/she/they had a few quid to work with.

One criticism though, if i may. It would have been better to have left out or at least turned the volume down on the explosions and other effects, the drama of Jeff Waynes score makes them unnecessary and at times they were drowning out the narration.

    Great effort though :-)

  • Thats exactly what I wanted to say.

  • @PeteJones100 Yeah, we agree on that. =)

  • Fantastic! Really loving this series, you are very good!!! well done

  • It would've been better for Spielberg to just take the album and do this sort of thing to it.

  • oi you donuts how about saying thanks to the dude who made this up for us.....fantastic job, well done & thanks a lot.

  • Hmmm. Considering the degree of heat and natural reactions that moisture of any kind has in extremes of heat its safer to conclude that human skin would blacken, shrink and tear. Its also safe to assume that the heat needed to set trees aflame with a chance hit would also evaporate the water in a human body if brought close enough thereby making them explode like a pressure cooker.

  • You'd be better off with flying ash than blood

  • Well at least they managed to destroy a martian, how big is the alien body (not the fighting machine!), and in the first clip why is the head levitating bulk thingy an actual creature or a fighting machine?

  • The martian's described to be larger than a bear, and the bulk thing i believe is a cylinder

  • Only qualm: Blood from the heatray, it either turns them to ash or makes them a corpse, not makes them bleed, fire doesn't make you bleed

  • I am 1 minute behind you!

  • What

  • The heat rays seem to cause explosions. If you're standing adjecant to where it hits you'd only be blown up, which can get very bloody.

    Just go with it.

  • Nah, imo it sets you on fire/causes a massive firetrail

  • it does actually it causes ur skins to blister and ur blood to boil eventually blood will poor out of the blisters and scars, the ash thing was just stepen spielbergs adaptation to the original storyline

  • No, it just sets you on fire and you become a walking fireball, you don't explode into blood, watch the live tour.

  • great job, you've done / are doing :)

  • that song your version perfect, thanks man

  • Brilliant job! Enjoyed this a great deal. Faved and 5 stars. :)

  • Fantastic you could probley sell this ... i know i would buy it Thank you 10+

  • if jeff wayne himself saw this he would be amazed at how good this is

  • this is easily better than the 2005 movie

  • I will agree that this awesome. And yes, I would like to see a full version done all the way. It is really good.

  • shock horror..... no americans in this version. THANK GOD

  • Not all Americans are like how the media portrayes us. But I can never forgive Speilberg for what he did to the War of the Worlds.

  • fair comment mate, but it is an english story set in england, yet both films have been set in america !!!!

  • I know that its an English story, its just that Speilberg kinda ruined the idea of a WOTW movie for me, I just wished he would've stuck to the book.

  • i agree mate. i know Speilberg likes to make is films diffrent but if you're going to do that, dont call it War of the Worlds. Nothing about the film was loyal to the book except the fact that there were Tripods. He said in a interview that his invaders didnt even come from Mars.

  • Ugh! That movie might have been okay for me if it didn't have the title War of the Worlds (He even had the nerve to cut out the "the" in the beginning of the title).

  • thats exactly my point. alnoe its a good film but i hate it when they stick the name of such a great story on it simply for marketing value

  • i know -.-

    talk about a butcher

  • Comment removed

  • that is true

  • this is truly amazing i was wondering why this wasnt released in cinemas it would been great

  • Aren't the "guns" MLRS launchers? I guess they work, because I believe they are considered artillery.

  • This is terrifyingly brilliant!! I've been glued to these since I wandered upon the first one this morning-bloody well done! Watching the Sky News clips reminded me of the panic in 1938 when it was broadcast on radio and everyone thought it was real....watching those now made it feel so real-fantastic work on the ones I've seen so far, I can't say brilliantly fantastically wonderful work enough times!!!! : )

  • Absolutely stunning. Deserves so much. I remember listening to the original musical in the 70's and have had to wait 30 years for the right visual to the soundtrack.

Who needs thingamybob out of topgun to act this one out.

    WOW!!!WOW!!!WOW!!!

  • no tripods!!!!

  • these vids should be on tv a modern take on the original---------excellent great work 5 stars x

  • heard that forget the other War of the worlds films They should make this a movie.

  • wtf the shuttle assploded without it even hitting it. * Hey Bob, whats that green-WTF!BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM

  • If martians invaded at christmas that would be the best christmas for me!! :D

  • This is what you tube is for. For a WOTW nerd like me, this is stunning. Brilliant work

  • i like it

  • I am utterly amazed....Speechless. Thanks for doing this. I was always a fan of WOTW, and was disapointed when Spweburk made his. It reminds me of the Game. Keep doing it please, you need an ultimate youtuber prize or something. the links are going on my site if its ok with you and all my friends will be interested.

  • SO FUCKING AWESOME !!!!

  • Awesome-you have achevieved on no budget and limited time what speiberg could not-you have captured the very essence of what it could have been like. You should be proud of this, as its the best thing on youtube. Many thanks for posting.

  • totally agree!!!!!!!!!!

  • absofuckinlutly brilliant

  • You're a fckn genius, this is absolutely brilliant, cant think of anything else to say!

  • At 4:25, was that a guy that fell out of theplane or something?

  • Each episode gets better and better! I'm beyond impressed, and the devotion and excellent work that has gone into this project is flawless! This is the best thing i have watched on youtube, and this guy deserves so much credit. Thankyou so much for this :)

  • This series is brilliant! Thank you for taking the time, energies and efforts in producing this. I have been a fan of Jeff Wayne's musical version since it came out and still continue to hope that we'll be able to get the live staged version on DVD in the United States. You skills in bringing this animated version to the world are truly appreciated!

  • about 2:14 (the bank explosion) i love that :)

  • good job :D

  • if i may make a criticism, sound effect ever so slighty to loud. Apart from that, absolutly outdstanding.

  • Ive just posted on the part 5 but I will on this too....this really is great stuff..well done and yes, it beats that travesty that Pendragon did by a country mile.

  • fantastic work :)

  • This is just simply superb. As a labour of love it really surpasses the "professional" Pendragon Pictures version of WOTW from few years ago, and in some ways even beats the CGI from the live tour! I am humbled before you, sir!

  • wow this is amazing, this is art. you deserve a golden statue for this! officially subbed and rated 5/5!

  • I wonder what the chapter Thunder Child will be like...

  • herberts brother game him the idea for the short story, and jeffs father past it along ....

  • i would give all i own to make it happen

  • this worked so well, why was it not picked up and turned into the motion picture we all want??

  • no words can describe how awesome that was awesome job with the tanks.

  • AWESOME!!! INCREDIBLE...GREAT JOB

  • I love this! :D I just love it!

  • amazing! just watch from part one to this part! and cant wait for the next! well done for all the hard work, its been so worth it! =]

  • I'm 65 years old and I still remember the first movie version which came out in the '50s. I was about 10 or 11 and it gave me nightmares for weeks. The remake with Tom Cruise a couple of years back simply didn't measure up to the original. But this Compressedfilms version is simply awesome! The 21st century version of the original Orson Wells radio broadcast. Out bloody standing!

  • Some 30 years on from when Jeff Wayne brought out this album, War of the Worlds still frightens me. I was not even 10 years old. What can I say but I look forward to being reminded of the awe of this story when you bring part 5 out! Brilliant!

  • 2:48!!! that is the best splat ever!!!

  • fantastic, eat ya heart out speilberg...lol

  • Great job. looking forward too March.

  • AWESOME GREAT WORK !!!!

  • If it only was for real... lol This is awesome! :)

  • ahaha thats a real prime minister, annihilating council estates, GO MARTIANS!

  • brilliant and a lot better than the movie with Tom Cruise

can't wait to see the other parts

  • Fantastic, probably the best series of fan made films I've ever seen on YouTube. Very much looking forward to the next part. I wonder if Jeff Wayne has seen these? Brilliant stuff.

  • i love this it's fantastic top man for taking the time to make it

  • looking forward to chapter 5 *****

  • top marks again...superb stuff

  • Absolutely brilliant-Hollywood heroics you can keep them this is a brilliant piece of work to accompany a brilliant album.Roll on part 5.

  • excellant, fantastic work, thats all 4 i've seen now, bring on num 5

  • Fantastic!! :)

  • This is how it should be! Forget Speilberg...this is what it should have been!

Its getting better with each episode!

  • Waited months to see the this chapter, and it was the best thing i have watched all exmas.

Excellent, bring on march. a very happy fan.

  • the noise the martions makes really creeps me out :S it doesnt help when my dad yells it through my door in the middle of the night

but this film is amazing especially as u have no budget

well done and carry on :D

  • i notice some fans have a few quibbles, but idont think they should be taken to literally richard, your doing a immense job on your budget, more power to your elbow mate!!

  • brilliant! they get better each time thanks so much

  • This is great stuff, yet again you came up with the goods! Keep at it! Your doing a grand job! 5/5!!! Also with your tripod effects their was one were it didn't touch the ground whilst walking, its barely noticable!!! But apart from a few mistakes it is awesome!! 5 outta 5!!! i would give 500 outta 5 but the rating wouldnt let me!

  • Mr K absoloutely genius. as you know thats one step away from maddness. looks good sounds good. as always fantastic, looking forward to all your future work. a friend and having seen your other pieces a fan. Pat Bz

  • Thunderchild is coming soon!!

  • richard as with the previous 3 episodes pure class mate cant wait for march all the best

  • Richard this really is an excellent film and the series is great, but the timing of the music is all off. If you were to listen to the actual album then Forever Autumn doesn't start until you hear the chimes of Big Ben (7minutes and 15 seconds in) so most of this was still part of The Art
