  • my class is too stupid to understand this

  • @hashiepashi that's what I said when I was 16. That was nearly 10 years ago. As I soon found out, I was not so isolated in my taste as I once thought. There are plenty of people who like this stuff, trust me. You just need to look a little harder.

  • @hashiepashi Don't be such a bitter old man. Seperating yourself from your generation in that way is just idiotic, there are many, many people of our age group who would enjoy this just as much as the older generations.

  • @hashiepashi Come on, dude, we all feel like that when we like something difficult and can't find people who share our interests. Back in the 1980s I was loving films like Eraserhead and Paris Texas while all my peers wanted to see Beverley Hills Cop and Risky Business. The thing about Marat/Sade is that it's also about Britain in the 1960s: Peter Brook and Peter Weiss wanted to shock the theatrical establishment, which they believed only wanted shows written by people like Noel Coward.

  • @hashiepashi Actually, I'm 17 and love this play. In fact I'm a patient in my high school's production of it and I think it's amazing.

  • @hashiepashi Who cares? If everyone watched this then everyone would be the same. And I'm sure that only a small fraction of your peers actually listen to My Chemical Romance with any consistency. Besides, I think the youth is better off not knowing anything about De Sade....because De Sade was a creep.

  • @RuffianismBlog Actualy alot of youthes today DO know about De Sade, indeed probably more than any previous generation, because popular figures like Marilyn Manson and famous serial killers like Richard Ramirez talk him up. I think it used to be only college students taking abnormal psychology courses and members of underground sexual comunities and such learning about the guy .

  • @hashiepashi Well I dont think it's just YOU'RE generation. I doubt THIS is the kinde of thing which would be POPULAR ( in a broad mainstream sense ) in ANY generation.

  • This is fucking great!

  • read 'discipline and punish' by michel foucault

  • wonderful voice that man had...

  • this is very well acted!! and the emotions of the period are still deep. Marat and Robespierre were maniacal fascist pigs! and Louis was unfairly abused and persecuted! yes i know the nobility squeezed the poor, but if Louis had been better informed he would have attempted change! remember, he was surrounded by avaricious lesser nobles who had an interest in him not knowing the truth!

  • eh?

  • Ouch de Sade! bet you got off like a monkey on a rocket ship though when Damian was quartered. Still what information can be gained from any such King's methods I mean honestly.

  • Daily they offer their heads! The executon of the king! Conversation concerning life and death.

  • The execution of the aristocrats, & the King! Confrontation concerning life & death!

  • 1793 The Marquis De Sade, suspected of moderatism is charged with organising, the 8th Company of the section des Piques. He is arrested by the police of the commune, is taken to Madelonettes. 1794 to Carmes transferred to St Lazare Mars 23 Francois Aldonze Donacien Louis De sade 54 yrs, 5ft 2ins medium nose, small mouth, light grey hair, oval face, bare high forehead, pale blue eyes. 1795 publishes La Philosophie dans le Boudoir, sells his chateau to Rovere, the 'Peoples member'
