  • indisign sucks ass

  • I agree with everything you said but resolution. For newspapers 150 dpi is fine, but magazine and offset printing is best with 300 dpi. I believe you would see a difference if you printed two identical images side-by-side in 150 and 300 dpi. Perhaps this is overlooked today because of the misuse of JPG images — instead of TIF images, which you noted.

  • @MacEricG It actually depends on the printer or who is accepting the artwork/images. From my own experience newspapers, magazines, and billboards will accept 150 dpi for images. Some may not even accept anything but 300 dpi because it's their own rule. As far as image quality goes, 150 dpi is more than sufficient and I've done my own tests doing this. Image size and quality of the shot are also factors, it goes beyond dpi. If your image is 4"x4" 150dpi you won't know if its 150 or 300 dpi.

  • Neat. If you want to try FlightCheck Professional to preflight, package (even compressing the folder) and help you to fix InDesign, PDF, Illustrator and many other file formats before sending to the printer, then let me know... (Great for Illustrator, as that cannot do this at all.) -

I like the quality of your videos!

  • This was great. Thanks a lot.

  • I am a first year yearbook student, and we use indesign for our layouts and such. I have dreams of being a photographer, and now that I am framiliar with the indesign program, my friend and I were going to do a photoshoot and I was going to create a layout of it using indesign, and I was wondering if the layouts would print using my Home printer?

  • Yes you can use a desktop printer to print in Indesign. Look into the best practices for printing within Indesign.

  • hey can you convert indesign to pdf??

  • When you have your project open, click file then export and select pdf from the dropdown. Or you can print and select Adobe PDF.
