First time I've heard him play this, I was soul struck! But then again, that is the way Mr. Sanborn always plays his ballads, with utmost intimacy and incredible spirit and soul. He shouts, and then he speaks, and when he leaves your jaw and mouth are so wide open your like "did I just experience the wrath of god?". It was the wrath of Sanborn was in the room and nothing more!
Very nice indeed. Leave ALL those notes in boy. Every note made sense and I got the peaks where I was meant to get each different type of peak. Could have been Sonny Stitt on the Underground, And that's a compliment. I love the Underground.
Dave, you are a wonderful person and a wonderfuller musician to bring back this song. Dinah Washington knocked me out with this one before you. Don't get in to the meaningless flurries of notes, but dig the raw emotion you emote from your interpretation of the melody. You are the most raw cat alive today!
