  • Thanks alot man, i want to use this method for animal fur

  • @AnEmotionalTrebuchet game engines use something called an 'alpha channel' for transparency. Rather than a 'map', the alpha channel is a fourth color channel (in addition to the standard RGB) that specifies which pixels are see-through.

    Search 'unity alpha channel tutorial'.

  • if u don't using texture in Defuse map cannel ur hair look better.

  • @SuperWease1 I know but thats only for black hair doing this for different colors and it would be seen obviously.

  • hey, how do you export it? when i export the plane with transperancy and the hair to a new file, it loses its transperancy and its a white plane again

  • @AnEmotionalTrebuchet You should reapply the material in whatever program you are trying to import it to.

  • @Alusaint thanx alot bro. Just besides this, why is it if i import a 3ds or fbx file back into 3ds max to another model, by is either one always distorted or something. how do i upload successfully a complete model to another im working on both in 3ds max? thanks alot btw

  • @AnEmotionalTrebuchet well you can always try to export to obj thats what i do.

  • @Alusaint ur the best thanx

  • @AnEmotionalTrebuchet anytime man subscribe for more

  • @Alusaint Hey bro sory for bein annoying im fairly new to this, but when i export a model with the transparent plane and with the hair on it, and i import it to Unity3d, the white planes come back, and its not transparent anymore. No idea what to do . THanks soo much for all your help

  • @AnEmotionalTrebuchet sorry man i dont know how to use unity you would have to ask someone that knows unity about opacity maps.

  • huuuuu! notable!

  • nice trick, thanks

  • @alexilaiho1st thanks man anytime please subscribe

  • @alexilaiho1st I'm afraid I had said that before applying it on 3ds max 2010, the opacity map isn't working as expected, the white area (diffuse map) and the black area (opacity map) form a greyish color which is not transparent, even with the right values and after displaying that in the viewport.

  • @alexilaiho1st you may have to go into photoshop and mess around with the contrast and brightness or whatever you use to texture your models

  • Does it work in 3ds max 2009 ?

  • please please please can you do a tutorial modelling the planes

  • good work! thanks for this video

  • @roman8p8 anytime

  • Now, if only I can find a tutorial to actually texture it in GIMP to add to the plane later on...

  • @seekertosecrets sorry man i have still have this texture but i forgot where i got it from if i find out I will post a link in the description.

  • @seekertosecrets check the description now. i posted the link

  • @Alusaint I saw this tutorial before. I suppose that I could try and see if I can adapt that to GIMP.

  • @Alusaint Just realized that I'm not using Maya or 3DS Max. I'm using Blender. Unfortunately, the tutorial doesn't apply. Sorry.

  • Subbed FTW love your videos, I'm trying to find a video i found a while back, it was about a few different programs to use, to automatically make a 3d model of any real life human figure with like 4 clicks, no joke. possibly if I find it, I could send you the video link and you could make a video...... The hair was the only part that wasn't totally auto... =) hope to watch all your tutorials.

  • Dude, you just saved my life...thanks a lot for this tutorial!

  • @Revoxiii anytime bro. you subbed right?

  • thanks !

I like the song too...what is it called ?

  • @jagz888 I forgot but it was a youtube song because the original i had got blocked by wmg.

  • great stuff, very usefull

  • @r4jk3 thanks please subscribe

  • nice work

  • @ShadowAuraSite thanks please subscribe

  • that was pretty simple and helpful im gonna try this out now

  • @TNCypher thanks please subscribe and i hope it helps you

  • if you dont believe me check poser pro on you tube and reality 1.0 and 3d daz studio and carrara and you will understand what i mean or check out 3d daz studio site and check out the models and extra features

  • and you know the best thing about poser pro and daz studio is that it brings your simple ideas to life making them almost human im going to be honest when i say that it takes quite a while to render a few scenes but its worth it in the end and the same goes for the back ground scenes :)

  • i tried 3ds max and it turned out to be so damn difficult i think i will just stick to 3d daz studio, poser pro , carrara 7 and vue 8 its alot less time consuming and models are pre-made so you can morph and change them as you please. And the project im working on now is big hopefully it will look great

  • @ Alusaint thank you very much an I subscribe.~__~

  • @ Alusaint , This may seem like a silly question but does this work on 3ds max 2009 if I'm correct you are working in 2010 right? can I still use this method? BTW I have 3ds max 2009.

Thank you for uploading such am interesting vid I am new to max an I don’t know how to model hair. ^_^

  • @Jowyalbeljoe yeah it should i had 2009 and 2010 but there isnt much difference maybe just some new add ons but their much the same so im sure it would work.

  • so you use uvw mapping before adding the maps?

  • @rushdrift yeah

  • This is good stuff.

  • @heermarcel thanks please subscribe to my channel

  • nice man if i have problem i'll ask you again :D keep it up
