The first one is a built _from scratch_ co2 laser tube!
The second one if a lot more fancy then this "pro" one. MUCH larger work area, Z axis.
The co2 tube is 300-400$, stepper motors 30$/each, power supply? Cheap, if you make it yourself, 3 gold coated mirrors about 100$ each? maybe less. The focusing ZnSe lens, 100$-150$? The rest of the mechanical parts don't even count, the electronics, you CAN make them yourself for a few bucks.
no doubt you can actually manufacture one at a significant savings. if you're great at that sort of thing. and if you are, then all you have to do is programme your computer to actually operate it. oops.
piece of cake. might as well learn sandblasting.
doesn't look as fancy? probably runs as good as it looks, too.
too many skill sets involved to be made by the average person. you're better off giving epilog $20k and know you've got a quality machine with a warranty.
do you have a car? did you build it? you know you can build a car, it won't look as professional but it will do the same. and for less than you can buy it from.
Want one, too! Anyone knows which is the better system? Trotec, Epilog or GCC?

You can build all that for less then 1000$, it won't look as professional as that, but it will work all the same.
