  • What a sad day, a great voice for reason and humanism is silenced forever.

  • @BorisHorvatable We will have these videos, his books, and our memories forever. In that way he will be no more silenced than he was while he was alive. That probably sounds awful and hackneyed but Hitchens really inspired a new assertiveness and iconoclasm that will be irreversible.

  • Darwinist religious service in action!

  • Can't wait to see Hitchens in Melbourne 2012.

  • @test123ok I've got some bad news...

  • My Hero.

  • Well done, Hitch! A richly deserved award. I hope you'll be fit enough to accept many more to come!

  • @Tapiola2007 "Richly" deserved? Don't shmear his memory with poor word choice.

  • i love hitchens, followed him for a great many years, but this absolute idolasition from the audience is a bit much for me, clapping at every instant, standing ovation...it seems some of those have also put to rest their inquisitive faculties and accept everything Mr Hitchens says. He's a great man, but lets remember that he is just that, a man with great ideas, opinions and an amazing knack for wonderful rhetoric

  • @icedbannanas I imagine the greater number of applause breaks he receives is primarily because he is quite clearly dying. Idolisation is a bit much, i'd call it sympathy, it's difficult watching one of your intellectual and moral hero's decline.

  • In bolivia he is not very popular too, but i will work on it

  • I was asked at work today who the number 1 person was. I said Chris Hitchens....they didn't even know who he was. Sad...oh well they do now.

  • I haven't heard about Hitchens in quite a while.I'm so happy he's ok.I really really hope he gets well

  • Hitchens is my personal savior.

  • These lodge memebers are still deceiving mankind. Good luck!!

  • he will die soon and be GREATLY missed

  • @darkblighttmo

I thought he was getting better lately.

  • He looks like voldemort... T.T

  • @kissmyass682 The religious think he is Voldemort.

  • christopher looks terrible :(

  • @TheCrappyaccount But, as always, he sounds amazing.

  • @jonoessex

Not only survived, but, in a way, he's THRIVED! I mean, he's got stage IV esophageal cancer. It WILL kill him, there no getting better. (that's practically the definition of "stage IV") Like he himself even said, it's not a matter of if, but rather, WHEN.

This must be one of the strongest, greatest people who've ever lived. Seriously.

  • Does any one know if the Q&A from this is going to be posted?

  • Hitchens & Dawkins...iconic atheists!!

  • Well wishes Hitch, hang in there! You inspire all of us!

  • Hang in there Hitch...

  • It is too painful to watch this.

  • @4165mc don't think that way. As far as I'm concerned it shows what an amazing guy hitchens is that he's survived this long! When I first heard hitchens was supposed to be collecting this award in October I thought it was wishful thinking he'd survive that long. How wrong I was!!

  • good to see Christopher Hitchens still pushing on. It's a shame the audio isn't better.

  • Dear god, whom i don't believe in. Thank you so much for Hitch. You are so inspiring.

  • Every word from both of these men is a precious jewel.

  • death is the weirdest thing there is.. one moment you're here and the other moment you're gone.. FOREVER!

  • @SteveDutchy Insinuating what?

  • @SteveDutchy

well... we weren't here for billions of years, so might just as well cease existing in a similar manner.

  • great to hitch is still kicking, hope he gets well

  • @mysql0 "no-one fcking cares." that is a flat out lie , because I care , you are the one of which is seeking something , I think you are seeking hate , glory in it for i hate what you said.

  • @LogicalStatements1 '"no-one fcking cares." that is a flat out lie , because I care'

You care, you are a nobody and a no-one. Therefore the statement "no-one fcking cares" is true.

    Good day.

  • @mysql0 Did what you just say even make sense to you? I't didn't to me , are you trying to say I don't exist? I don't know what you're getting at.

  • Dead-to-the-spirit deluded "God Delusion" author & blithering fool scientist goon Richard Dawkins another "leader" given 2 the profane masses is another useful idiot 4 Jesuit machinations

Jesuitical; pertaining to the Jesuits or their principals; designing; cunning; deceitful; prevaricating

The Jesuit Order completely altered the education system 2 suit their Evo-Hoax Agenda to discredit the Bible

Papal Rome cant have their Counter Reformation Despotism 2nd Dark Age until Bible is destroyed

  • @13Xanadu I see. My misunderstanding.

  • Heh... some "fanboyism" involved in Dawkins' speech, definitely :D

I don't necessarily mind that, though.

  • Who's gonna do this amazing man's eulogy?

  • @eksyte Fry!

  • @eksyte

The chairman of Phillip Morris maybe?

  • Love the man!

  • Sound is better on.... watch?v=hcsOCEe8ZpY

  • more courage than any American president of late

  • I miss his hair...

  • No, my hero.

  • he got his voice back. excellent!

  • Comment removed

  • I was there, but I was sitting way in the back with the SSA and couldn't quite hear most of what Hitch said. Thanks for posting the video, I understood a lot more!

  • HERO

  • Christopher Hitchens is my hero.

  • FUCK!!! I cant believe i missed this fucking car

  • Whoever took this video much have been near me since I saw this speech from pretty much the same angle.

  • Poor Hitch. It is so tragic to see a man who was so handsome, witty, and intelligent, reduced to this. We really need a cure for cancer

  • @glitcher21

I think he looks pretty good now that he's lost a lot of weight.. definitely better than what he looked right after the treatments started.

  • @PeXis Look more closely. The paleness, the redness around his eyes....but the worst of all seems to me mental, not nearly as sharp as he once was. Even so, he's still a lot sharper than the vast majority of people

  • @comanchio1976 It's not his mind going, it's him being completely and utterly worn down and knackered

  • Subtitles, if possible, please.

  • @Cacacos Someone spammed this comment. I unspammed it.

  • @Jbear9

    THANKS ! ! !

  • Promise us chris please if there is anything please find a way and tell us which one it is, i bet will be Wotan.

  • @mmaattlliinnkk

in his own words "it's Christopher"!

  • @13Xanadu Well, I admit it is tough watching Hitchens in a declining state. But I always enjoy fine polemics, speeches and lectures. And The Hitch is chief among the best. Oh, and I am an atheist living in America, so I love the juxtaposition and irony.

  • My hero.

  • I've heard of this latest convention. I couldn't wait to see the highlights and presentation. Thanks for the video. Thumbs up!
