The problem with Les Majeste laws in Thailand is they are used not to protect the King, who from all accounts is genuinely loved by the Thais, but rather to suppress political change,redistribution of wealth, .

Its true though they are the laws in Thailand and unlike Thai people we foreigners can choose not to go.  When all is said and done though; its a matter of free speech and expression and undermines what Thailand claims to be, which is a free society.
