You definitely did this song justice with your video. This Album was my intro to Christian Contemporary Music... loved Barry's intro ... could see him slapping the dolphins with dishrags. Thanks for taking the time to post it!
I can't believe how long its been since I have heard this song..... My parents had this on vinyl..... This song is so what my heart feels sometimes.....
swood33--do you have a copy of the To the Bride album (doubt it ever became a cd)? I have looked for it since my days in college 30 years ago. McGuire was one of CCM's true early pioneers.
On his "To the Bride" album with the 2nd Chapter of Acts, this song follows his dolphin intro, which is one of the better Christian testimonies I've ever heard.
This song reminds me of my years living in Czechoslovakia . . . almost 20 years ago now . . . just a perfect song . . . I used to play it every morning as I woke up . . .
Thanks, you did it justice. :-) I used to listen to this song on the album where Barry introduced the song by telling the story of hanging over the edge of the boat, seeing dolphin, and poppin them with a towel.
Thanks for sharing. I always loved the album that had Barry introducing the story by telling the story of hanging over the boat popping dolphins with the towel. :-)
We will miss Larry, but he left us so much of his heart in the music we still have, that every time we play his songs, it will be like hearing from an old friend again. See you again one day, Larry! Enjoy being home...
Barry joined me on my radio show last week to promote Child sponsorship with Tear Fund New Zealand and we both sang this song. Seems both of us have 'modified' it slightly since this version but it came out alright.
I was elated in seeing Barry last summer in Colville, Washington at Rendevous Days. I worked with Barry for a day as a Newbie. As an Ekklesian, we shared a reunion of heart.
'Calling Me Home' brings it all back. On his first album 'Lighten Up', Barry notes our nation standing on the 'The Eve of Destruction', cautions 'Don't Blame God for the Sins of America', yet extends hope that God is calling each of us home.
Barry and his music were meant something special to me back then. I which I could get his first two Christian albums on CD. He still speaks to my soul.
I haven't heard about the curse words, please verify before you slander. Did you read Barry's blog? You completely missed what he was saying. No, he didn't say he doesn't believe in the physical 2nd coming. He beleives in using every moment to the fullest w/o worry for the future.
What great memories! Thank you for posting this. I remember laughing for hours listening to the story of the dolphins and this song 32ish years ago??? Jesus you are so amazing thank you for being the one who makes all this possible and loves us this much.
I will never be a christian but I love music.a christian friend played me the live version of this song. I can still picture Barry bopping dolphins on the head.Thank you so much for this video!Such a lovely peaceful song sung with passion.
Wish the story of Barry's seeing the dolphins when he was younger and playing with them by
'bopping" them with a towel had been included. Such a precious story! The dolphins begged for more! He played with them for quite awhile... great song! Thanks!
Just busy reading a book by Dr Randy Alcorn called "Heaven" and it's blowing my mind. I know this song from way back in the late 70's and loved it then.2nd chapter of Acts and Phil Keaggy and all them dudes. Awesomely well done video. Together with Randy Alcorn's Book enlightening me on what Heavens gonna be like makes one Homesick for Heaven. Thanx 4 the video

jtww77 is right! I'd love to see a version with the 1975 "Lighten Up!" intro too. The story makes the song even more poignant.
That said, you've done justice to a a real gem. Thanks!
