最近はNHKのオリンピックテーマ曲が紅白でも歌われるようになりましたが、この頃はオリンピックが終わると同時にほとんど聞かれなくなってしまうというのが実情でした。そのため、2000年の12月30日に聴いてから4年半近くこの曲を聴くまでの間隔が開いてしまったのです。NHKでその後流れたのが、坂井さんが亡くなった直後の『クローズアップ現代』だったというのはある意味で皮肉な話です。
