Call of the Wild, Tooth Fang and Claw, and Ted Nugent, were three outstanding albums in a row. The 1973-75 period was Ted's most productive as far as great music. This song is a shining example of that.
@chrisput1024 I would have to say that Free for All and Cat Scratch Fever should be added to that list. He was a dominant musician in the 70s, hands down...
Back to the amps question, I saw Ted in early '71 still just the guitar player for the Amboy Dukes doing Papa's Will. He climbed up the back side of his twin marshall, stood up on top, jumpped off wearing nothing but a loin cloth and laid on his back balls to the crowd still playing guitar. I was front and center so I can vouch for that..haha
@ARVINABATT I remember that too! panhandled 2.50 to get in to see the show and got to party with them ... Woot! I'll never forget the jump over the amps in the loincloth....
re amps the only time i saw him with amboy dukes he was using some REALLY old fenders...the only readon i know is cuz i was 2 feet away from them. after that i never paid much attention.
Ted played a Marshall amp as well as fenders as far as I know only on this album. The photo on the back of this album shows clearly a Marshall on top of the fenders, and he's plugged into the Marshall and playing in the studio.
The Reverend atrocious theodocious built his own guitars. With them and his marshall amps he could blow the balls off a bull at a hundred paces. DAVID53NOW

Grew up in the 70s & dug the hell out of the Gonzo King, Motor City Madman, The Ten Fingers of Doom, Terrible Ted! While Stranglehold, Hey Baby, Stormtroopers et al were the more popular tunes, from first listen this sucker was my hands down fave and still is. In fact, it's one of my favorite guitar songs and ranks up with all of the other greats to have slung a guitar in rock & roll!
Ahhh, the 70s, eclectic music, no mtv dictated corporate cool, no Orwelling PC sensorship. Peace rockers!
@redfishradical Bong hit? Ha,ha, I know what you mean,i was at that party too!!!! Fucking awesome!!! Yup,indeed. This tune rocks like a fucking great white buffalo man.Now THAT was MY tune.I would get up and dance in middle of the street or on top of a car, whatever. My friends knew they needed to just leave me alone and let me roll !!! Ha,Ha.Cheers to" BACK IN THE DAY" ! Kids these days missed it....,oh well.....peace.
@redfishradical this is jim in KC saw the wild man 28 orgasmic times gotta get close 2 me when u speak seen him in front row 2 many times TWAT TWAT I CUNT HEAR U!!!
begging Ted to bring this out every time I see him live. dont see it very often anymore. ab-so-lute mas-ter-piece of all time. Ted should get royalties on Waynes World income..the stole his lick...
Saw Ted in Potsdam NY in '75 or '76 right after TF&C came out. Great concert, he was in total control of the feedback and played most of the album including Hibernation. Encore was a rocked-out version of Journey to the Center of your mind. A great performance!
special song. the double live gonzo version is awesome, it must live in the memory of the audience that were there to witness it. I heard Ted perform this in London back in.........79/80, it was simply stunning, Ted was at one with his byrdland, it was as if it was part of his body/being. Do we remember that vibe, of how it felt then? it's gone now, but every so often i get it ;-)
My mom heard this (on my crappy stereo of the day) just after I bought it and thought I was crazy and going straight to hell. We (here in California) had to scrounge all the little underground record stores to find his music.
In my opinion, this is really the best 'ROCK' song I've ever heard. There is no words to the music, it's just pure Blitzkrieg!!! If you are currently 1 of the 4,745 viewers and listeners to this song then you have witnessed something phenomenal. I've only heard this song once on the radio back in 1977. That's just another reason why it's SO SPECIAL!!!!
Thanks for the post. This song just popped in my head after not hearing it for many, many years. I think it's Ted's best song. Reflects great controlled feedback. I saw him do it live opening up for Aerosmith (Toys in the Attic tour) in Chicago in the 70's. He played the entire side 2 of Tooth Fang and Claw. Excellent Concert all the way around! :)
He's a great musician but I think a lot of his lack of recognition stems from his overbearing personality; Nugent had tons of issue with band members over the years which has probably alienated him from part of the music community. There's also the issue of the pretty controversial crap he comes up with. His politics are extreme even to the point of many self described right wing conservatives distancing themselves from him for some pretty harsh, bigoted points of view.
My buddy's 1972 Nova SS, the 8 Track blasing, Brain cells burning, and Tooth Fang and Claw.

And "they" want to take Les Paul Gibson guitars away now. Listen to this and tell me that is NOT right.

@mgwilliams1000 Ted Nugent played a Gibson Birdland back then not a Les Paul.
