  • does anyone watch this and feel totally and utterly awestruck at just how much the most applied/intelligent people on this planet achieve. I can't believe how little signifigance my life is going to have in terms of impact relative to the people who sequece genomes for example. Good for them to be doing such fascinating/beneficial work!

  • @Strange0ne yes. i am always in awe at the many wonders of my our world. unfortunately many people do not appreciate them.

  • i bet that supercomputer gets really good porn.

  • about that super computer... can it run Battlefield 3 on ultra?

  • @LoneSniperFox First of all, no.

Second, It is not a super computer.

    It is a Data Center.

The base for it is a Blade server. A motherboard with two quad core CPUs and 24 GB of RAM. This is essentially an x86 architecture computer, like your PC at home.

There are 8 Racks 8 Blade Centers can fit in one rack, Each Blade Center can fit 14 blades. That makes 3584 Individual units, or 12,845,056 CPU cores, each running at 1.86 Ghz. Basically all of those are configured into a "grid".

  • @LoneSniperFox (part 2)

The final result is a resource of processing power, which you can allocate to different tasks, from managing users, to calculating complex algorythms.

and as far as graphics go, these servers use an ATI 3d-rage GPU, which is about 10 years old. That's because they only need those in case you need to physically connect a screen to one, which in most cases never occurs.

  • @dgurevich1 Oh! so it's made for CoD

  • @LoneSniperFox No. The graphics are only there to produce a basic interface.

  • i wonder how much they'll charge us to be healthy human beings

  • how does this not have more views?

  • @crashpilot2 that already exists:) Its called BOINC and anybody can join. it uses the idle processing power of your pc for the advancement of scientific projects.

  • @vitoraldo does this pay?

  • @markuskentwood no, they don't pay. you contribute the idle resources for free. the only thing you get is the good feeling of having contributed for the good of Mankind:D

  • Nothing will stop progress. Its wy we exist.

  • How can a mortal, weak human body be so complicated? All this work and tech to solve a handful of problems, a couple of deseases. If you look at space travel, cell phones, HDTV, microwaves, PCs, all this stuff sounds much more complicated, almost magical compared to our body, yet, we can no longer cure something like cancer, which kills people since the beggining. About time they work on a better body for us, this one is just expandable...

I still like it though, it's the only one i have LOL

  • STOP TRYING TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL SORRY BY USING THE NATURAL ORDER OF LIFE TO SALE THIS CRAP... CONTACT YOUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND ASK THEM TO STOP PUTTING CHEMICALS IN OUR FOOD MAYBE THAT WOULD HELP... NOT USING SOO TO BE COMPUTER PROGRAMMED VERSIONS OF OURSELVES...

  • @arkansasgurl501 You really think that the work of Dr. Michio Kaku and the academic world is done as a means to guilt people into 'buying into' temporary and destructive ideals? Your naivety is clearly demonstrated by your statement; the product of zero grasp on the scientific concepts outlined in this program. Local governments = absolute power? I suppose you contacted your local government and asked them the same thing? If so, how did it go? If not, you are a hypocrite. Get your facts right.

  • @Violtain ... Why don't you do some research before you comment. You can start with HAARP since it's the fundamental one...and yes I REALLY believe Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde is selling ideas based on the very guilt a person may feel after watching his infomercials...

  • @arkansasgurl501 Hmm... well firstly I apologise for my harsh tone. I presumed you were yet another flamer on youtube spreading negativity. HAARP - yes I have heard of it... however what I heard came from a man that is quite the conspiracy theorist, and I worry that the fear of the unknown is clouding our judgement and slowing our progress to stand-still. Could you explain to me why you believe the Dr. is not what he seems?

  • @Violtain ... He is commerical...simple as that...he is on television more than in the office working to help people. He has ran across this idea of how much better things will be if you can manipulate how a person thinks. You can see this for yourself as you watch all the series. It starts out with the importance being to help people to psychologically draw a person to agree. Then, he goes into "wondering" what things would be like if you can alter the very DNA of people perceptions and actions

  • @arkansasgurl501 ... I've been trained to read things backwards to get to the truth of a persons psychological intention...sometimes to get to the true nature of a persons intention of a thing you have to mentally read it backwards....Psychologically, lies come in the beginning, but if you let a liar talk long enough you will find the lies don't fit together...this is a tactic that plays on a persons memory, if you can't remember what the person said, you cant argue the lie, therefore you agree.

  • @arkansasgurl501 ... not to mention...NO true doctor gives you an idea/treatment/opinion, without offering you the side effects as well...that goes for any doctor that is concerned with your true well-being or your right to decide for yourself...
