What are some simple suggestions that could maybe make it easier for them to get involved?

@Commentboy5000 I think it takes a slow steady introduction but after a while they begin to feel empowered with the knowlege that in any event they will have the tools to survive. At first my wife was like WTF??? Now she has fun with me.
